I think we go the other way: after today 8 days left in July, 31 days in August and 12 days in Sept. before the opener on the 13th. 8 + 31 + 12 = 51 IKEMEFUNA ENEMKPALI, LB, LOUISIANA TECH, 2014-present
Nah, he's right. We usually count down to the NFL opener, not the Jets opener. There are 49 days until New England vs Pittsburgh, the NFL social media accounts were advertising yesterday that there were 50 days left.
Don Buckley, WR, North Carolina St., 1976. Drafted in the 12th round of the 1976 draft. 5 total receptions. 1976 season: lack of talent, Namath a shell of himself, Lou Holtz was a flop who was fired with a game to go (after telling them he was going to quit at the end of the season), president Phil Islin died. Saw Namath's last game as a Jet vs. the Bengals in a half empty Shea; blow out loss to cap a horrible season.
I don't think Namath actually played in that last game though did he? EDIT I looked it up he did play...yikes 4 INTs I'm pretty sure this picture was from the Jets first win that year - a last minute FG by Pat Leahy to beat the Bills at Shea.....
The picture was a picture from 1976, it wasn't of the final game. That pix shows shadows whereas the Jets-Bengals game was a blah, chilly overcast day. Namath (4) and Todd (2) combined for 6 ints.
Thanks. Yes, I remember him now. He had a twin brother also. I can't remember if the Jets drafted him too and am too tired to look it up, but I think they may have. Both sucked.
