    I still have those shoe!!!! He gave me all of old training camp shirts and cleats that he wore back in the day.

    My father was drafted by the Bengals in 1968 and was cut after 7 games. The Jets picked him up that same season because they liked the way he played special teams. So he played the for the Jets the rest of that season and in 1969. In 1970, he was traded to the Bears to back up Dick Butkus.

    I don't remember the referees unis being red and white striped rather than black and white. Interesting.

    The AFL Officials wore those. When the NFL did the 50 years of the AFL and the team wore the throwbacks, even the officials wore the throwback uniforms during those games that year.

    Damn! My memory really is shot. I had totally forgotten. Thanks, neid. I like those a lot more than I do the current ref unis. I like the splash of color. Looking at that picture, I wonder if they still fine players for not having the right balance on their socks. If so, some of those refs should be fined because there's hardly any black showing. LOL
