They should that guy at the Steelers-Bengals game on Sunday...He picked a bad time to switch allegiances...
As it is, I root for other teams. In the NFC, I root for the Packers but I don't follow them too much. In the AFC, I'll occasionally root for the Steelers for my family but mainly the Ravens for some of my friends. Plus I love Ray Rice and Ray Lewis. If I was to switch teams, it'd be the Ravens. Things that'd push me over: Starting Sanchez next year. More awful contracts on awful players. Bringing in Vick.
Probably someone who is loaded and $500 doesn't mean much to. It's probably a funny thing to be able to brag about when showing off your Steelers memorabilia. "Oh and I also bought a Bengals fan and turned him into a Steelers fan". heh
What kind of question is this? The team had a great run for a couple of years, now they fall apart as they always do, and we're looking for reasons to jump off the bandwagon? Those of you who answered "yes" to this question can jump off the bandwagon as easily as you jumped on and please DO let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. No matter how much I want to, how much I tried when I was younger, and how much I wish I had chosen differently, I would never jump off from rooting for any of my teams for another team. I will sometimes lose a bit of interest in teams when they are horrible (such as the Mets or Nets since they play particularly long seasons) but never will i root for any other team. Flame me for saying it all you want, but anyone over the age of about 12, or anyone who had an allegiance to one, who switches teams is not a real sports fan.
I used to be a Vikings fan. I always kinda liked the Jets. But in 98' I believe when the Vikings went 15-1 and got crushed in the first playoff game I had had it with the constant Jets like dissapointment year after year. So I turned my back, went completely green and never looked back. I even have the goddamn Jets logo tattooed on me. I guess I'm not leaving. If I did though, it would be for my wife's Redskins. But obviously I'm not going anywhere. However since the Jets are going to prove my week 4 prediction correct of going 6-10 this year. I have jumped on the Denver bandwagon for the remainder of this year. More importantly.....ANYONE EXCEPT NEW ENGLAND !!! (or Dallas)
No doubt the Jets winning a Super Bowl would be huge. When that happens, I really will start to look over my shoulder about the end of the world.
Other than the Jets, I largely root for whichever teams losing help the Jets win, whoever is playing New England, whoever is on my fantasy team, and whichever teams I take in my pick'em pool. Unless the Jets moved far away, it's hard for me to find something so egregious to stop me from being a fan. If they left, I'd have to think hard about it. I followed the Nets when they left, but that doesn't really count since they are still in the area (and are still called the Nets). My friend told me his buddy is a Redskins fan who gave up his season tickets and stopped buying merchandise because of Snyder. He wouldn't even go when offered free tickets to this week's game. Curious what other people think of that.
I am a Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Jets fan, I have it the worst, but no matter what, I love my teams I could never change, because they have given me some pretty awesome moments (Jets playoff runs, going to Leafs games) I just couldn't do it, because I love those teams, that's harder to do than anything in the world I think
The jets along with the 49ers have pretty much been a part of me since my childhood day between going to games, buying merchandise, jerseys, watching them on tv, going to bars watching the games with friends and what have you. I couldn't even consider changing that up. I started watching football in 94, that's 18 years ago. I couldn't imagine changing things now. Besides, I vaguely remember the rich kotite years, aside from that, I've had a bunch of good moments watchin the jets. Granted alot of let downs also but compared to older fans its been more good memories then bad memories for me.
No. As much as I hate the current set up in the organization and as much as I'm considering dropping my tickets of 18 years, I will always be a Jets fan. I bleed green and love this team and all their faults. The only way I could even have this discussion as a serious one is if they were to re-locate, but seeing as they're locked into New Jersey until after I'm probably long dead, I don't see this becoming an issue.
