Plan B free agent (when they had plan B) the jets signed from the Falcons, I think. Best jets moment was taking pass from Boomer and scoring insurance TD for the jets victory in Miami in September 1993. Tore his knee up next spring and never played again, as far as I know.
No, just no. He hasn't done anything in the NFL. Michael Nania thinks Renfrow would be the best option, and Michael Lombardo suggested the Eagles' Greg Ward. Ward isn't much of an upgrade. Renfrow is an excellent route runner and he has reliable hands. That's something that Corey Davis didn't have and evidently Lazard doesn't either.
There's no way that we should give up a 3rd and a 2nd round pick for a 1-year rental of a WR. That's a horrible idea imo. So is Julio Jones and Jarvis Landry. Both are washed. At this point in time, I think Hunter Renfrow is our best option.
The only problem I've had with him this preseason is all the passes he has dropped. He's caught only a little over 50% of the passes thrown to him. That's terrible with Rodgers throwing the ball to him.
Gotta shake off the rust right? I've seen every game from his Packers career. He'll be fine. Sent from my IPhone 43 using Tapatalk V.86
I'm still on the Brownlee and Gipson make the 53 train. Why not go with the young guys? I know we have a "short window", but if Rodgers isn't complaining about them, that says a lot. He has always hated having to deal with inexperienced WR. Plus they're already on the team, and cheap. Don't splurge on any vets that are free agents for a reason. My 2 cents. You think every discussion/opinion that Rodgers has with Jets coaches is filtering out to the public? Why would he explicitly complain to the media about the shortcomings of a bunch of UDFA's? What would that accomplish? I'm not saying we have to add a veteran body, but we really have no idea what Rodgers truly feels about the WR room.
Fair enough. Just being a Wisconsin native, I've seen countless media press with him, and he's never been shy to shit on receivers when he's not happy. I do think he's being more coy now that he has new surroundings, but regardless I would rather go with the young guys over the Jarvis/Julio of the FA. That being said, I wouldn't complain if the FO decides to go that route. Sent from my IPhone 43 using Tapatalk V.86
I've seen fans on other sites suggest that perhaps the Jets should just keep 5 WR and 5 TEs. Carter and Breece can catch a lot of passes too. Add in Cook and Izzy, and one of Brownlee and Gipson, and that's still a lot of receiving options.
That's certainly an option. We don't know whether Rodgers has complained about the young WRs, however. Adding someone like Renfrow, who gets open and who has very reliable hands would be a great add, however. The problem is that we already had Cobb and Hardman who will operate primarily from the slot. That's where Gipson would play WR as well. I have to assume with Davis gone that Lazard will not be taking any snaps from the slot this season.
Why wouldn't I be? I heard so many complaints on tgg about him being washed up, or him being a diva, and I've done nothing but go to bat for him. I don't mean to sound egotistical, but nobody else here knows him like I do. I think Jordan Love is ready to start here, and I think Rodgers is gonna be elite for at least 2 more seasons, so needless to say that I'm excited. I'm glad pretty much everyone here has come around. I've never been a fan of Renfrow's game. Admittedly I was wrong about him ,I didn't think he was an NFL caliber talent, but he's stuck around and done some things with the Raiders. He plays the same position as Hardman and is like 50x slower. His safety net reliability is replaced by Jets TEs. I think if you trade for a WR it should be in the mold of Corey Davis, taller guy who plays outside
I definitely see a scenario where they keep 5 WRs and 4TEs. Hollywood Brown would be a very intriguing get, but what would they have to give up?
I like Renfrow a lot and he'd immediately be WR 2/3 here but he's not the type of receiver we need. Renfrow CAN play outside but he's not your prototypical outside guy. He reminds me a lot of Elijah Moore in the sense that he can line up anywhere and his size doesn't really affect him but we need more than 1 jumpball guy. There's no one available that fits what we need. At least no realistic targets. Davante Adams is not a realistic target.
Totally agree. We are talking about 5th and 6th receivers, not starters. These young guys have been here all summer and know the offense. I really don't want to fork over a draft pick for a vet WR. We are compromised on picks already, for next year anyway.
