I'd love to see Coples break out this week. He's definitely due for a big game. I reckon we'll see a lot of 4 man fronts. I just hope our linebackers can set that edge this week. We need Thomas badly!
It's 3 games in and the jets have been awful against the run. They want him to rush the passer, but if they are rarely in passing situations he isn't getting on the field. Looks like he will be on the field more this week to try and disrupt things on 1st down. Melvin Ingram has what 4 tackles with substantially more playing time.
Was at a family party missed the game but heard Coples was making plays but just wasn't given much playing time again... was he rushing the passer well or run stuffing? Just don't get how he's not playing over Devito
To bad they still are not playing him nearly as much as they should be. It makes no sense to me, it seemed like everytime I seen he was in he was getting some sort of disruption or making a play. I don't get it.
Yea at one point Ellis had huge push into the backfield on a couple of plays. Coples made plays on the run. I think they need to allow Coples, Wilkerson and Ellis to make plays on the line more often.
I'm not giving up on Coples. At least when he's on the field, he makes a play. That's a hell of a lot more than could be said about Vernon Gholston. Why he isn't on the field more, is up for debate. It's got to be his attitude and practice habits. If that's the case, the Jets were idiots for drafting him. Numerous draft pundits like Mayock questioned the kid's motor. Rex being Rex, announced that Coples was his guy. But Rex also thought he could change Gholston. Rex's view of himself is definitely overrated.
No argument from me on that. They get penetration they should be starting over the old and slow....and I speak as someone who is old and slow lol
He tackled 2 RB's behind the line of scrimmage for losses that were critical in 49er outs. He can defend the run very well He straight up mauled them
not only does he make no plays, he gets pushed around out there, making it that much harder for our linebackers to make a play devito needs to be benched.
And he seemed to be around the ball -- i think you need to have this guy on the field more. At some point one of your 1st or 2nd round draft picks has to contribute. Wilson is avg at best, Ducasse is a bust, Coples has upside, Hill is hurt, Sanchez has paid dividend but going backwards under Sporano, Ellis and Wilkerson haven't done anything this year. Seem slike their drafts haven't produced anything but a lot of projects while other teams are loading up with critical players
