Coples did something inherently dangerous to Luck. He kept hold of the facemask and twisted Luck's head around as he was going to the ground, dragging him down by the face mask. I was surprised the fine was not larger. I expected a $25k fine there.
thank you for posting. If what you said is true then Maybin should be suspended. Elbow in the throat area while on the ground ... WTF??
The Bills made Maybin filthy rich...gave him over $15 million guaranteed money after drafting him at #11, obviously before the rookie wage-scale. Look at it this way: he'll pay for the fine that he didn't deserve with money that he did not earn. ...plenty more where that came from too. Edit: didn't see if Maybin hit Luck while he was on the ground...all I saw was the hit after the INT, which I saw nothing wrong with.
The NFL is always going to protect it's stars and even though Luck is only a few games in to his career he is perceived as one.
That's ridiculous.......unfuckingbelievable. Luck is now in the Brady/Manning that shalt not touch mode?
Jesus, what is this game coming to? The Maybin hit shouldn't even have been a penalty and certainly wasn't vicious. He didn't go for the head or the knees. Absolute BS. Edit - I just read the stuff about another blow after the initial block. If that is the case then Maybin deserves the fine.
I am sensing that the block maybin threw isnt what brought the fine. The league saying there was something else. No?
I laughed my butt off during that South Park "Sarcastaball" episode. My brother doesn't watch football and asked me wtf? I brought him up to date. That episode was hilarious! Glad you posted the link
I suppose that warrants a fine after it's reviewed by the League. What I'm curious about is the actual call made on the field -- Was the penalty, which negated Cro's TD, because of the elbow to the throat or because of the hit/block on Luck?
Someone will correct me if i'm wrong but i believe the call was for unnecessary roughness. Which would imply ot was for the aftertheblock mugging rather than for the block itself. That said, during the game, it appeared they were calling the block itself. Which drove me crazy and lead me to say the refs were in the pocket of the Colts.
I saw the same thing in the All-22, it was pretty blatant, now I'm not really surprised there was a fine.
That was when Marty Lyons (#93) tackled Kim Kelly and down in the pile repeatedly punched Kelly in the head--should've given Marty Lyons the game ball. While making the call, the ref originally had called it on "#99 (Gastineau).
