It's day freaking two of free agency. At least wait a week before making these doom and gloom post about how Idzik is stupid.
You seem to be complaining a lot without really giving any answers. What exactly would you have done this offseason that we haven't done? What defensive guys have already been signed that are realistic for us within our price range? What running backs and tight ends have we lost out on that are in our price range? To me, it looks like the only solution you have to any one of those 10 problems is we should have brought back Keller... and for the price tag, I'm not even sure it would be a good move for a rebuilding team. Edit: Not to mention... WE ARE REBUILDING! Sometimes I think most of you have absolutely no clue what rebuilding means.
It is definitely depressing to know we will never be able to see how good Revis, Cromartie, Landry and Bell would have been together.
This is a deep draft class for safeties and CB's and the FA market is pretty solid there as well. Teams will absolutely find value waiting the market out a bit and find some guys on a good deal. Relax.
yea, we are not winning the offseason super bowl. we are doomed, fire everyone. gtfo. be glad tanny isn't here to over pay for the likes of devito and keller. idzick is in the process of undoing the wrong of the last 3 years.its going to sting but the only way fix it is to strip it down and get the money right.
Havne't I? I wanted Keller, Bell and DeVito back and they all should have been re-signed to cost effective deals. We have to replace 10 starters. Yeah, I know we are rebuilding. Does that mean we should just let every starter leave? Especially one's that we could afford to keep? I haven't mentioned once that we should be making a big splash in FA. I want to keep highly effective players on our team. Players that we can afford.
Hard to replace all the starters we are losing in free agency. Ive got my life vest on for the long haul. Its in my blood J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS.
I'm not doom and gloom mode..I'm realistic. 2013 is not going to be good. We will find out how good Rex is as a coach. I think if this team wins five games,I'd give rex an extension. I really don't want to go through another coaching upheaval...too many of those. I'm hoping for competitive...is that too much to ask?
Which is exactly why I thought he would be good to keep around for another year or maybe two. He was a guy who would give some quality playing time but could be phased out as Bush and/or Allen develop. I realize this is a rebuild, but I thought he would have been a cost-effective re-sign.
Maybe they are waiting to make an offer to Landry once the market establishes his value? If we're looking for a veteran presence, bring back Bart Scott and Sione Pouha on the cheap. Or even C Pace, those guys weren't worth their salaries last year but are damn sure worth a vet min/tier3 salary. Perfect depth and would make for a seamless transition to younger guys.
Seriously, some people really think that we'll be able to get 7 solid starters from this draft. The Lex Hilliard signing really bothered me honestly. We can get an undrafted rookie who would do what he does and much more. There's some big athletic guys out there who go undrafted who can block just as well and can catch better plus more upside. Jets can't afford the big names, nor would I want us to be getting the big names, but by now I would of expected someone signed. Or at least more news of who their looking at.
