Maybe this regime doesn't like Wilkerson? Maybe, just maybe, they know what they are doing and don't think he is worth the money?
Exactly.... We have the coach who blitzed the most in the NFL last season. he might rely on corners more then Rex did. We now have a sick secondary, not to mention that secondary now has a dline that can get after the QB, something that wasnt the case in 2009-12. But most of all, this is a move that did not prevent us from filling another hole. we filled an area of need, and we still have the picks and some money to fill the other areas of need. Revis Island works alot better when you have skrine and cro on the other side making plays instead of milliner getting roasted. we added marshall and carpenter and #6 will most likely be offense. this isnt like years past were we just ignored offense for secondary help
Seriously. You guys think really Mac doesn't have a long-term plan? I mean, even for everyone saying he's the new Tanny, we were in one year of cap hell under him and then we're back to having among the most cap room in the NFL a year later. I'd take that any day of the week. The money is there to be spent. First people are complaining Idzik didn't spend anything, but now that Mac's actually put a team on the field he's spent too much? Why don't you guys just enjoy the new influx of talent and not worry about the fact that this could have later repercussions until those repercussions actually hit, because chances are they won't. This has been an awesome offseason and Mac has done a great job rebuilding the roster in just a few weeks.
QB is not a concern. With the new rookie contracts, a newly drafted QB will not need to be paid for YEARS! We are spending money like this now because 1. we have to and 2. we don't have to pay a QB for a long long time. If we draft a guy like Mariota and he turns into a franchise QB, he will be on his rookie contract for years to come. What's happening now has no affect on that claim
Cro was also asked to do more without Revis, with almost no help on the other side (and mediocre safeties). Is Cro an elite corner? No. However, he is not getting paid 16 mil a year because of that. However, when he is a compliment to a Revis or Peterson, he is a hell of a player, and will be for the next few seasons...
I hope you're right, but it's my opinion that Cro is an average corner at best but is getting paid like a top-tier guy. Oops meant corner.
