He had help over the top so he was able to undercut the route similar to what Revis did when he had that INT against Romo late in the Cowboys game. I would say that Rex and Pettine baited Rivers with the call not necessarily Wilson. The Chargers got the match-up they wanted. Chargers will take Jackson on Wilson all day every day one on one.
On the Wilson pick they played zone after giving the look of man coverage. Wilson read Rivers' eyes and jumped the route. There was no man coverage on the play.
Hmm didnt somebody call this out before the pats game....??? Kid is going to be something special. The game is alot harder on our #2's & #3's when OC's & QB's know they cant throw at Revis. We give our corners a hard time, but they deal with matchup nightmares week in and week out. Ontop of that, Wilson was only thrown at maybe 15? (correct me if im wrong) times all together his senior year at Boise! He went from being the "Revis" of College FB to a Rookie CB who was attacked rather than avoided. It take a while to transition, but Kyle has really made strides. Congratz to him and the fam keep it up!
It kind of looked like man or at least man on his side of the field. Both he and Revis played their man from the snap with Wilson getting help over the top from Leonard. The opposite side of the field looked like it could be zone or combination thereof as Cro passed his man to Pool and took a deep drop while Stickland played his man. Wilson's post game comments suggest that he was responsible for playing underneath Jackson w/ safety help => http://espn.go.com/espnradio/newyork/play?id=7141762
I seen some man as Revis was at the LOS ready to jam Jackson. But when KW man went in motion and to the outside Revis knew Jackson would cut back inside so he motioned to KW to take whoever transitioned inside. It was Jackson so Wilson stepped up as he was playing like 7-8 yards off the line and Rivers fell for the bait
he's a great talent, that paired with learning and training with the best CB in the league = a great young CB for the Jets!!
yeah they gave a man look during the motion, but the defense was zone. Rex said it himself in a press conference.
Yeah I heard him too they got me on that one when Revis pointed to Jackson for Wilson I think Rivers was like oh yes 1st down I got this..........NOPE KW jumped the shit outta that route
turns out that with Wilson (first round) and now up there with the guy the Browns picked at 8 as the best of the corners in the draft, McKnight (fourth round), Conner (5th round) and even big Vlad who's even active every week this year... the Jets had a pretty damn good 2010 draft after all
^ Please don't try to justify the Vladimir Ducasse pick by saying he's active every week. That's bullshit. A second round offensive line prospect shouldn't be a jumbo tight end that plays under five snaps a game. He couldn't fill in when certain players went down and that's sad. The staff has zero faith in him. So far, it's a wasted pick.
So, given his improvement, and given Cro's questionable at best play, what are the scenarios, if any, for KW moving to the #2 spot THIS YEAR? Or is that an impossibility given how much we've paid Cro?
that and Cro is still better than Wilson at this point lol. glad to see Wilson moving forward in his development though. all we need is to trade for Johnathan Joseph and the ghost of Champ Bailey's past then Rex's plan can come to fruition. EDIT: seriously though loved the pick when it first happened. Glad to see his training this offseason paying off. He keeps it up he'll be a jet for life. Unless he hires Revis agents
Wasn't Coleman the same bum who got his ass burnt by Manning in the AFCCG? The same dude who basically lost us the game single-handedly because he couldn't cover Austin Collie?
notice how Mick said great year LAST YR? Plus to be honest Coleman mistimed his jump by a fraction of a second otherwise he becomes a hero of that game. The guy was our 4th CB going into that game I believe. either way Coleman was a solid CB depth who overcame some huge mistakes to make plays last year.
