I can answer this question, it fucks up both programs bad, and usually if you accidentally do this you would have to uninstall manually before being able to have an antivirus function fully again, I had this problem when traces of Norton was still on my computer when I went to Symantec antivirus, it took me 2-3 hours before I could uninstall it and install it so that I could have auto-protect work
nooo haha you already have Trend Micro dude... only 1 antivirus per machine :breakdance: You would think more is better but in this case its not.
To put it more clear...haha Imagine a hot dog is a virus. And a fat dude is an Antivirus program. What do you think would happen if you throw 2 fat dudes in the mix? But seriously that really kinda explains the whole thing, they would hate each other!
^ what he said...(didn't see his post prior) Norton and McAfee together is a disaster. Sometimes your machine may not even boot. Awesome sig by the way
Ok, I don't get this. So what does this program do? And... crash? Do I really want to install this, then?
should we sticky this? and 1028... i would just install it as is... what it does is optimizes your memory so that your system runs quicker and more efficient. The only time it tries to free your ram is if it drops below 15% i think and that is a rarity with 512mb and above.
I just did Step 1 and removed some files and my computer loads up 20x faster when I turn it on and I can navigate so much easier/faster. It deleted so many files I am amazed, I was so close of buying a new computer just because it was so slow, but now it moves perfect. Thanks again TGD...Now what are the positives/advantages of the other steps? I'll do those tomorrow.
Back before I switched to Mac, I tried every PC speeding/cleaning trick in the book, and it had an affect for approximately 5 days before it reverted back to it's perpetual suckiness. Good luck to you all.
I having some problems with Free RAM, why is everything inverted? One option has do not run if comp use is above 20%, shouldn't be below? I use AntiVir as my anti-virus program, it's also free. BTW - What is a good defragger?
Diskeeper is probably the best as far defraggers, but I just use Windows' built in version. (It's actually a scaled down version of Diskeeper. One of the few times MS didn't flat out steal something from someone else, and it works just fine.) I have FreeRAM, I've actually had it for almost a year. I never use it. I tend to blow away my RAM on 3D rendering, and it doesn't really help. My swap file gets pretty abused, so FreeRAM tends to choke on me. I've been using AVG for years now. IMO, it's the best A/V by far. And you can't beat the price!
How tempted was I to start a mirror thread, "Wife not cooking enough and cleaning too slowly, follow these easy steps."
Ok, so, as it stands, I have these applications on my computer: Trend Micro Anti-Virus Spy Sweeper (without an Anti-Virus subscription) CC Cleaner Ad Aware Spyware Blaster FreeRAM XP Pro I think that's about everything I can get without having any conflict between programs, as I understood it from this thread. I didn't install ZoneAlarm though, should I? God, I hate computers. Thanks for suffering through my onslaught of questions, Green Dude.
Alright so i've done steps 1-4 and the computer is faster, step 4, the AVG virus thing took forever, I had 6 viruses, I never scanned or did any virus scan since i've had this. Going to do step 5 and 6 tonight and be done with it.
good shit ecko... let me know the final result and maybe you can be the poster child for a sticky ha ha
looks good man... make sure you run those every 1 - 2 weeks and defrag probably every month. With all the porn you probably download I would do it every day  j/k If you have Windows XP with SP2 and the firewall enabled then ZoneAlarm is pointless to have.
Step 1: Cook for your own fat butt. Step 2. Pick up a mop and a broom ya lazy bastard, Step 3. And get me a beer while you're already out in the kitchen. NOW! Back on topic. I have Norton 2007 and have had nothing but problems. I also run a spyware/adware program. Should I just eat the damn 70 bucks I paid for Norton uninstall and try another? I play alot of online games that require Java but after an hour or two the bastard freezes on me. I have the latest edition. <shrugs> Now, some sites say I don't have Micromedia to run but when I hit install, it does nothing.
