STATS CMP ATT PCT YDS YDS/G TD INT RATE
    Regular Season 198 294 67.3 2668 205.2 21 4 164.4

Nice stats KJ put up for some backyard football time. I'll take that QB rating in the SEC.

I hate getting my hopes up but it feels like there's a legit chance an elite pass rusher could be available at 4.

This would be the best thing to happen to us. KT at 4 would make 10 such an easier decision.

which would hurt overall production numbers but doesn't change his film. I'm not going by stats, i'm going by what burks himself shows on film. so the QB play is irrelevant.

as are 95% of all good college WRs. college DBs suck compared to NFL DBs. most of the people he was matched against won't make the NFL. it's the same way MLF schemed berrios open the last few games becuase he wasn't good enough to get open against starting CBs which is why he's at best a WR3/4. if i'm taking a guy in the 1st I expect him to grow into a WR2 role at worst.

You mean the play where he got away with an OPI and had a head start and still almost got caught? His straight line speed is god once he gets going but his acceleration is slow, his routes are lazy, he dropped 2 passes that game, his blocking was weak. it was the least impressive 179 yard performance I've seen. The only thing that will translate is hes tough after the catch but even then he looks less tough on film then london who is skinnier. maybe you are misremembering the game? here is burks form that game

nothing he does there translates to being a starting WR in the NFL really

I also was very high on allen while everyone here shit on me for that. I also was high on metcalf as well and wanted him badly. being right twice before doesn't mean you can't be wrong. I also called hamler, schultz, pollard, amon-ra st brown, deebo as later round steels oh and also said mims film wasn't good and wasn't happy with the pick

    now here is n'keal harry

tell me he doesn't look like a better burks on college film? and he went 25th IIRC and is a bust

    on a sidenote from WRs

mcbride IMO separated himself from the other TEs and is TE1 in this class. Wydermeyer didn't look great. likely is probably TE2 and wydemeyer is TE3. Dulcich looks like the late round steal of TEs. he's projected in the 3rd currently. if we miss out on mcbride i'd be pretty happy with him

I am an Alabama fan so I remember this game very well. I can’t remember but I think they were around 30 point favourites in this game and Burks just took that game over with his size/speed and YAC capabilities made the best team in the country look like Georgia Southern. Nobody dominated Bama like that since Saban has taken over. They couldn’t tackle him, even with tight coverage he won with his ball skills, athleticism and hands.

The drop you speak of take a closer look the DB literally holding his right arm. That was PI all day.

I will admit he has similar traits as Harry but in my opinion Harry is a poor man’s version of Burks.

Burks is Deebo/AJ Brown/Andrea Johnson combined into one player. He takes attributes from all 3 and is his own style of player.

His frame, legs and butt are built for the pounding too. Half the battle is staying on the field and when it comes to that he is as clean as you can get. Both with his injury history and his off the field personality.

You combine all that and it screams super star to me.

I also feel it’s McBride and Ruckert then everyone else. I think McBride will be there with our 2nd and Ruckert with our 3rd. It will come down to what flavour JD likes

It's not that the combine doesn't matter, it's that it should be used only to confirm or reconsider things previously thought based on tape.

Burks' main selling point was that he was supposedly an elite athlete. That is clearly not the case and he's arguably even a below average athlete. Slow 40, slow 3 cone, low vertical.

Burks' supposed athleticism was used to excuse his questionable route running. Now that we know he's not a great athlete what exactly is his appeal? This is not a guy you take in the top 10.

The 40 time is meaningless. Every year, players do really well at the Combine, zoom up the draft charts and do nothing in the NFL, and likewise, players have slower times than expected, drop in the draft, then play at a very high level in the NFL. I am a little concerned with his 3 cone and vertical leap scores, but I know what I've seen him do on film against the best collegiate players in the country. For me, the only question is if he loves football and is willing to put in the work to fix his route running or if he may have stiff hips/ankles that may prevent him from breaking off his routes more sharply. If he is stiff, is that something that can be fixed through stretching/yoga/pilates, or will he always be limited by that. I'm certain he can learn the rest of the route tree.

His hands are excellent. According to Matt Waldman, most of his drops came when he tried to make basket catches vs high pointing the ball. Waldman points out that he does high point the ball at other times, just isn't consistent with that. It seems to me that is something that should be fairly easy to fix, but maybe not.

IMO it's not correct to say the bold. It's ok to say that he's not a physical freak in shorts doing events that I'm sure he probably hasn't done very often. His movements on the football field are instinctive, and he's done them hundreds, if not thousands of times. He IS explosive on the football field. He may not have great lateral agility, but he makes up for it with speed and power. I could care less what any football players does at the Combine. I only care about what I see on film or in live action.

again did you watch the video I posted? this way it's fresh in your mind? I think you have nostalgia where you remember something better then what it was. and being a fan will also tend to have at least a little bias. i mean we've all here looked at jets players through rose colored glasses before and also shit on jets players for no reasons. all part of being a fan.

Burks hardly took over. and again he's playing people who won't be in the NFL, you have to look how it'll transfer to better competition. he also dropped 2 passes but we'll ignore that because it doesn't fit your narrative right? Your post screams of this guy torched my favorite team so he must be a beast instead of actually pointing anything out. using buzz words like ball skills (lol he didn't show anything special there) athletisicm (again looked very mediocre and slow, poor route running. half ass effort on blocks and routes) and hands (dropped 2 passes) is all easily debunked.

the DB also didn't hold his arm. DB had 1 hand barely touching the chest and when the DB went to turn around because burks gave away his route, burks just pushed him foward out of the way. should have been OPI. then he outran some slow players big deal.

harrys college film is way better then burks. way more fight, way more shiftiness, way more power. and he still turned out a bust

if burks was what you say, he'd be considered a top 5 pick. corey davis was a top 5 pick, so was corey coleman, so was aj brown, so was andre johnson. Deebo wasn't but I called him being a stud and a steal before that draft and said we should get him. he was projected in the 3rd but went in the 2nd. Burks doens't look even as good as deebo on film. I'm honestly suprised he's even considered a 1st rounder. he seems more like a late 2nd rounder to me.
and listen i'm not trying to trash the guy, but it seems every year someone way over champions certain prospects without any ability to back any of it and goes way overboard. last year it was the fields supporters, a few years ago it was the mayfield guys. it's par for the course. the burks being "the top prospect in the draft" as you claim is just based out of nothing tangible

I know people here liked ruckert becuase he's a jets fan but he's not in the class of the rest. he'd be fine as a 4th/5th round guy but i'd rather have mcbride in the 2nd or dulcich in the 3rd personally. after those options i'd be ok with wydermeyer or likely if one fell to the 3rd or ruckert in the 4th.

Now GaC I think your trying to troll me a bit which is disappointing. I look at prospects as a hobby and if you haven’t noticed I rarely post during the season. I do most of my posting for the draft. I feel I have a good read on prospects and to say I use buzz words to describe a prospect is obvious. Everyone does. How else can you explain what your seeing?

At this point let’s agree to disagree and the proof will be on the field this year.

I know you do, as do I. and i'm not trolling at all. i'm open for discussion. I'm sure you feel everything you say. I don't think your trolling or being a jerk. I just think your wrong which is fine. you could be right the draft is a crapshoot. I just think you are letting personal feelings steer you more then the actual film because personally I don't see it and most others agree with what I see as well. only you and 1 other person here see "IT" also checked the NFL draft reddit and the dozens of people there don't see it either. and the consensus of all the scouts and sites and professionals don't see it lol. so basically 2 people in the entire country see something nobody else does. of course in the end, you could be right. maybe someone somewhere was saying how great tom brady would be when nobody else seen it, but it's a pretty slim chance even with the draft as a crapshoot.

as far as using buzzwords go, sure most people do but there is usually a basis behind it. saying reliable hands when he dropped 2 passes in that game (and for the record I do think his hands are solid and i'm not worried about the drops) but the way you make it sound he'll never drop a ball. or saying his athleticism when he's done nothing athletic is kinda crazy. the only thing showcased on that film was his strength and 50/50 ball and ability to get away with an OPI and barely outrun people who won't be in the NFL. I think burks will be a good WR in the NFL still. I don't think he'll bust but I don't think he'll be even a WR1. maybe a 2 at best

Cool, glad you’re up for just an old fashion debate.

Burks has no attachment to me he just caught my eye watching Bama so I dug deeper into his film and I was impressed. I watched every snap he’s ever taken. His physical size and girth was noticeable after the catch and blocking. His football speed running away from tackles and keeping his speed through the catch was really impressive. His physical ability to run through tackles from DBs along with an incredible stiff arm was imposing. This is also against higher end talent with SEC DBs. I didn’t see many drops at all, I’m not a stats guy but there was maybe 2-3 drops that were can’t miss in 3 years that stood out, the rest were all contested drops. His ability to line up anywhere from the outside, slot and RB showed me his route running ability, although a bit raw he still ran every route in the tree. He can definitely get more polished there as most WRs that translate to the NFL do. His college career was solid with no real hiccups even with 3 changes at QB. He adapted to whoever was throwing to him. Then it gets into athleticism that for his size is good maybe not freakishly good but good. He wouldn’t of been a 4 star recruit without this.

Finally he’s a really clean prospect when it comes to off the field and injuries. This for me was the final attribute to put him at the top of my list for WRs and it’s really close for overall the best prospect in the draft.

always up for a friendly debate and glad you aren't taking it personal and turning it to insults like some others do. I always enjoy seeing you post in the offseason and wish you posted more during the season :)

well i'll start with breaking down the video I posted on the alabama game so you can see what I saw on each play.

:19 - lazy route, slow off the ball and to the spot. lucky #10 on the D was out of position and awful. in the NFL he's covered easily in that zone. i'll give him credit for running through the half ass tackle of #9 and getting the 1st. those half ass tackles do happen in the NFL sadly

:30 schemed open. simple play nothing special

:43 nice job with the back shoulder throw using his body to make a catch against good coverage

1:10 lazy route, doesn't get open at all. QB takes off

1:21 initially wins route at the top, but DB catches up to him and makes it a tight play. QB places the ball perfectly but burks drops it

1:42 WR screen noting special routine play. ran hard and fell forward for a few extra yards

1:50 schemed open. nice stiff arm to break a tackle and get a TD

2:23 bumped off route easily, was lazy, gave up on route when covered. QB went to 2nd option

2:32 slip screen D played it well but burks was lazy when he seen someone read it. QB threw it away

2:40 probably one of his bets plays. lazy route to start against a zone, QB scrambles, he does a good job finding a hole in the zone but QB doesn't see him and throws to someone else on a bad throw

2:52 gets away with blatant OPI for a big TD. should have been a penalty on him but instead gets credit for a 60+ yard TD

3:25 simple curl route, he pushes off to get space. picks up 3 yards. again was really OPI won't get away with that in the NFL

3:35 gets a handoff in backfield. doesn't do anything with it. runs OOB for 2 yard gain

3:42 probably his bets rep. wins at the line and gets a window, goes up and gets it in between 2 players and holds on for a 1st down

4:08 lame block attempt on 2nd and 2, his guy makes the stop to prevent a 1st down

4:17 runs a pretty good out route to get open on the sideline in tight coverage (barely open) but drops the ball on 3rd and 16. might have been a 1st if he catches it. was really close.

I seen basically 2 good reps out of his 170+ yard game. to go along with 2 drops and -4 rushing yards. sure the stats looked great in the moment but the film doesn't and other then his YAC ability and 50/50 ball nothing transfers over well to the NFL. there are guys who do it better in the draft and guys who do the same who will be cheaper/later to draft

as far as higher end talent goes, even high end talent in college winds up as low end talent in the NFL. nobody he is facing is going to be as good as your average NFL CB. not sure how you can tout route running either. it's clearly a weakness.

    here is moore

look at this route at :27 burks simply can't do that. isn't agile enough or quick in and out of his cuts.
as far as being a clean prospect off the field, that's always nice but it also describes like 90% of people being drafted. only a few have off field issues each class. it's not really a bonus as it's the norm. it's a negative if they aren't clean

It's funny, when I watched the Moore clip you posted it reminded me of a recent clip of Jahan Dotson, where I was like...okay that reminded me of Moore. Check out 2:25, he's in the slot. A nice slant and go.
