Couple of players I want to evaluate further after watching the combine that weren’t on my radar till now. Thornton with that 4.21 speed Shakir looks really good out there Rambo looks like a sleeper athlete
Looking at 10 yard split times (more important than 40 allegedly), all of the guys I was curious about posted great times: Olave - 1.50 Wilson - 1.49 Burks - 1.54 (great for his weight) That should make all the Burks people feel a lot better about him. DK Metcalf had a 1.45 second 10 yard split at 228 lbs lmao, just preposterous.
Side note - How insane was that Ohio St. WR room? Olave, Wilson, and Smith-Njigba who's better than both of them.
I loved Wilson tape from this year but I got to say this combine performance hasn’t been very good. He’s let a lot of balls hit the turf and doesn’t look as smooth as he was on tape. I have a lot of question marks.. gonna need to go back and watch more film on him
Ah gotcha, still how is london not clean, because he stuck his tongue out? It's looking for things that aren't there IMO to make a point for the other guy. no way burks would be ahead of waddle or smith or moore. probably not even toney or bateman. actually he's pretty similar to bateman who went 27th IIRC. moore fell but was expected to go higher. It may be your personal opinion which is fine but clearly not the concenus or most people's opinion. doens't mean your wrong were all just guessing he could wind up being a stud. it's possible. I just don't see it on film and all the crazy size/athletic ability has been debunked now in the combine yes I know, amon-ra st brown. I pegged him as a sleeper steal last year, wanted the jets to grab him in the 3rdish. obviously the lions seen it too and drafted him ahead of where he was expected (we wound up trading our 3rd during the draft anyway) but still. I'm actually kinda on a hot streak with that the past few years 2021 amon-ra st brown 2020 kj hamler 2019 titus howard, tony pollard, deebo samuel (man I really nailed this one although howard wound up going in the 1st because texans are dumb) 2018 dalton schultz all guys I thought would way outplay their draft position and all guys who were projected to be 3rd rounders or lower. for me this year that guy is calvin austin III. originally he was a 5th rounder but he may have jumped up into the 3rd or 4th with that 40 time. could still be a steal though with one of our 4ths. I haven't faired as well in other positions though lol
metcalf is the biggest freak of nature the NFL has seen since calvin johnson at the WR spot. may be another decade before we see another metcalf physically enter the draft
He had great hands in games, among the best in this class I'd say and he almost always catches with his hands not body. Means more to me than his combine catching drill.
Debunked? No. Confirmed is more like it. He looked great today?!?! If you can’t see the IT factor after you watch the Alabama tape on Burks I really don’t know what to say…
That’s what I saw too. Very precise on intermediate routes with good hands and speed. I’m not seeing that today though. Olave looks waaay better.
When I say debunked it was claimed he'd run in the 4.3s or low 4.4s at worst. he ran a 4.55 and a 4.5, it was said he had freakishly large hands, his hands measured smaller then many shorter WRs and not freakishly large at all. more like slightly above average for a WR. haven't seen his 3 cone drill posted yet. but I doubt it's impressive. as far as tape goes, no I really don't see anything special on it. he looks good, but not amazing as people claim. he looks to me as a guy you take in the 2nd and hope he can improve to play a bigger role then he does as a plug and play guy who just works and will dominate. elijah's moore film is way better and we got him in the 2nd. Burks doesn't look worthy of a top 10 pick
I don't know how you couldn't get it. Burks talent jumps off the screen. He probably has the best hands in the draft, or is at the top. Anyone can learn to run routes or add routes. Burks is a perfect scheme fit. He would be a great complement to Moore, he would open up fades and in tight situations would allow Zach to just throw it up and let Burks climb the ladder and get it. Burks is faster than Wilson or London. He's stronger, gets more YAC, is versatile. Frankly, I'm puzzled why everyone doesn't see it. Too many people see route running as the be-all and end all for WRs and it isn't. Lots of WRs come into the NFL needing to refine their route running and expand their route trees. Big effing deal. Burks thrived against the best collegiate DBs and defenses in the country, and it's even more impressive since he was basically Arkansas' only weapon. Other teams knew he was getting the ball, and he still was great. He played injured. He's tough. Mims was not a better prospect imo. I loved Mims, but in no way was he better. He may have been faster, but he was and is a softer player. Burks is an animal. He has a vicious stiff arm. He's tough to bring down.
I didn't see him run, but a friend said that he looked uncomfortable when he was running. I guarantee you that Burks is faster than all of them except for that kid from Baylor and Watson on the football field. His hands are the real deal. His hands are much better than Wilson's or London's.
That's all BS. If you watch Burks in games, he's very explosive. I don't give a shit what he does in shorts on a track.
We literally hear this time and time again but many fail to do so. route running is an art form and a technique and not everyone has the ability to get it. it's why guys who aren't the biggest or fastest like kupp and brown and OBJ (current OBJ lost a step) can still get open with ease while guys like mims can't
4.3 at 225 is almost impossible not sure where you got that? I thought he’d be 4.4-4.5 and for his size that’s perfectly fine. He has huge hands with the 4 XL gloves and I think it was the largest out of all the WRs. So your telling me when he went for 2 TDs and 179 yards vs Bama you weren’t impressed? Cmon man. He by himself kept them in that game. As for the rest of his tape considering he had sub par QB play and was doubled on most plays when he was lined up on the outside. He lined up everywhere to get single coverage and the ball in his hands. He’s the best WR prospect in the draft. Possibly the best prospect in the draft.
I'll root for London if he's the pick at #10, but if Burks and/or Wilson are still on the board, I won't be happy unless or until London shows in games that he's better than both Burks and Wilson. Right now, I just don't see it.
