Burks did the exact same thing that London did, except vs. much better defenses and DBs. He was the only threat for Arkansas.
I think people make the Deebo comment, because Burks has that kind of versatility and he was used like that at Arkansas. I think in the NFL he will transition more to a #1 type WR and will be more like Brown.
FWIW saleh made it clear tape is king. basically said it's shame on you if 1 drill or 1 interview makes a decision for you. On top of that guys like larry fitzgerald, anquan bolden, jerry rice, chris carter, brandon lloyd all ran 4.6 or worse. these WRs ran between a 4.52 to 4.57 chad johnson, Hines Ward , Brandon Marshall, Dez Bryant. If london is on the jets radar it's highly doubtful the 40 yard dash will take him off regardless of what he runs
'm gonna throw a curveball at you. what makes you think burks isn't another denzel mims? you loved mims, he was big and fast and you said how amazing he was even this year blaming the jets staff for holding him back for no reason. On paper burks is very similar to mims scouting report wise and on film, actually pretty similar so what is burks showing you to make you think you aren't repeating your mistake?
Mims was a better prospect coming out of college In my eyes. I truly don't get the hype with Burks. Especially on this forum. Ironically, they have similar flaws In their game. I don't get it personally.
Not exciting. Wonder what London will run. FWIW, AJ Brown ran a 4.49 and that was my personal comp for Burks.
4.5 on his second run. I just feel like there was WAY too much hype between the hands and the speed... the combine tells us neither of them are that special. Not that I'm making decisions about a player based off the combine.
I was always low on mims here after we drafted him. never understood the hype after watching his film but was hopeful like all of us. I'm honestly not seeing much in burks to justify a top 10 pick at this point and supposedly he ran a 4.55 which doesn't help. I think people were just oversold on his size, speed, and hands, all of which the combine has kinda debunked.
my boy calvin austin III ran a 4.32 unfortunately for us I think his stock is gonna soar and won't be a 5th rounder anymore. i'd be suprised if he makes it to the 4th but if he's sitting there when we pick at the top of the 4th we should take him even if we draft one in the 1st
YIKES. That's not good for him. Expectations were 4.3 or 4.4 max. People called me crazy when I said he didn't look especially quick on film a few weeks ago. Wonder what his 10 yard split was? 33" inch vert which doesn't bode great for his explosiveness.
Also guys, Burks is 225lbs. 4.5 speed at 225lbs is FLYING. He’s only .1 seconds slower than guys that weigh like 195lbs. Burks’ day is only “disappointing” because people (myself included) thought he’d run a 4.4 AJ Brown ran a 4.49 and Deebo ran a 4.48, but we don’t see anyone complaining about those guys’ speed. On tape, Burks looks explosive, that is what matters.
4.5 for Burks is a good speed for his size. He hasn’t let the ball hit the ground yet either. All his measurements and athleticism is exactly what I saw on the tape. He’s a star in the making.
4.5 at 225lbs is much more impressive than 4.3 or 4.4 at 185-190. Plus, combine measurements shouldn’t be the deciding factor for players unless it’s a massive red flag. Burks running a 4.5 at 225 is flying.
I don’t see Mims at all. Mims was more a smooth back shoulder guy. I see London and Mims more as a comparable. Mims/Burks isn’t even close.
Watson gonna blow up the combine NDSU WR Christian Watson broad jumped out of Lucas Oil: 11-feet, four inches. Best among WRs. #NFLCombine https://mobile.twitter.com/home
