Yes we do. We should take one in the 1st round, but not TWO!!!! Re-read what the question the poster asked!
He is not fat, maybe not in shape. He is freak athlete. He may need better conditioning. I don’t want to draft him, but Quinnen was 3rd overall, not sure why Wyatt and Davis projected in late 20’s. And Quinnen was taken 3rd. Hated taking Quinnen 3rd! Value wasn’t great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He looks fat to me. He's definitely not in shape. He is a freak athlete, but that doesn't matter if he isn't in shape. It goes back to the old saying the best attribute a player has is "availability." If a player can only play a play or two and then needs a blow, he's a liability because he isn't available. What if he goes in, and the opposing offense goes into a no-huddle? Then either he stays on the field and does nothing but stand there panting or the Jets have to blow a timeout to get him off the field. Could he be a great player if he got in shape? Certainly, but why isn't he already? My take is that he's gotten by on his natural ability alone, and more than likely he isn't going to work hard in the NFL to lose weight and get in shape/build his aerobic conditioning. He's too risky to take in the 1st round unless one already has a playoff team and one thinks they can motivate him to get in shape or one is desperate for a DT.
It's pretty much impossible to have good cardio at 340 lbs. It's not just a matter of Davis needing to do more conditioning. That's just too much muscle for anyone's body to feed over an entire football game. OL can sometimes skate by at that weight but DL is a lot more tiring.
Did JD trade down last year? I know he went up for AVT but I can’t recall if he moved down later on, I know he picked coveted players that were still on the board, Elijah Moore and Micheal Carter were examples of grabbing guys that should not have been available that late in the draft but did fall and Jets nabbed. If JD has a similar draft this year, team should be in contention for a playoff spot this year. If JD doesn’t come out with 4 day one playmakers to complement the guys he drafted last year, I’m going to be pissed!
I don't have an answer to the first part, but for the second, I agree. It doesn't take 5 years to turn around a team, so we'll know a lot about this regime in 2022. Playing meaningful games past Halloween would be an improvement over previous seasons. That's how low the bar has been set.
Not sure, but both are pretty much unblock able on any given play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure I agree, but he could be in better shape. And every down player for most part. But there is limit on these big men, takes a lot to move the mass! Unblock-able in college for sure. Playmaker! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We should sign a safety or 2 in free agency! Draft one in 3rd or 4th round. We cannot take Hamilton at 4! Corner: Stay away from Stingley! Injury concerns. Like Sauce! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If Thib or Hutch there at 4, have to take them. Then take best WR or Sauce if still there. If not, take the OT that is left, then take T. Walker at 10. Any thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with the bold 100%. IDK what the budget is for the Jets on scouting, but I'd bet it's been historically low compared to other teams. There's not other way I can account for the absolutely abysmal drafting by them over decades. One of the conditions I think I recall Douglas demanding if he took the job was total control over revamping the scouting operation. And his first year on the job he wasn't able to do that. I hope by now he has. Judging by last draft that's hopefully true.
Thanks for sharing! Looks like he needs to work on technique. Ok you convinced me, no Walker for me! Lol. Karlaftis or Johnson instead then. They are surer bets, have the production to back up the workout numbers!!!
Thanks! Good break down. Walker might be a good fit on a team that doesn't need a stud EDGE right now, but I don't think the Jets should use a top 2 pick on him, and I doubt he'll be on the board with their 3rd.
After watching Penny's guess at who JD signs in FA, if he can get Tomlinson from SF to fill the G spot, then that change things a lot for the draft needs. Also, if JD can sign A. Robinson for a 1 year deal that lessens the need to use one of the first two picks on WR IMO, especially since it's a deep WR class. Not saying he shouldn't take Wilson or Burks at 10 if they're there but he wouldn't necessarily have to. He might be able to grab Thibs at #4, and possibly Hamilton, but more likely Sauce at 10. I don't really love the idea of going "D"" with those first two picks but if it fell that way I'd be okay with that.
I would be more than happy with that, then take WR in 2nd-3rd…. There are many good ones, I like Watson for one! And TE and or OL. There are couple nice C, Jurgans for one. Maybe a LB as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don’t think he’s a bad player, I just don’t think he’s a top 10 pick. I’m sure he can be productive in the right scheme, also he’s not going to be facing pro-bowl offensive linemen every game.
I think the sweet spot in this years draft is 2nd -3rd round. There will be some really good players in round 4 as well. If we have good draft, we could possibly have 4-6 new starters day one! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I kind of like Dotson. The only "problem" is that we have Moore and they're similar in size. But Dotson seems like he's really shifty and is great with YAC. But the Jets would still need to find a big, tall, target who can get behind the secondary and I don't think that's Dotson.
