1) Comparing him to Gholston is a bit excessive 2) Yeah he slipped twice in the same drill but shit happens... That said there are other players I like more than Houston as 3-4 OLBs...
He didn't completely disappear, but his relevance in games spiked or dropped significantly week to week. Good player in his own right, but fell short when being compared to Fairley throughout the year. He did have an impactful Bama game, but at the same time, Bama's interior line was a mess this year...
Just read this elsewhere....all I can say is holy crap, where did this come from? If he free falls, I wouldn't mind spending a 5 - 7 pick on him. Seems like this year's Donovan Warren - borderline first rounder who went into freefall due to some really horrible workouts.
I dont know If I would consider his poor senior bowl a bad workout. But its true he is really plummeting
Yeah workout was a bad word...but I remember just a few months ago looking into Beal as a potential pick for us in the late first or if we traded back into the 2nd. If his pro day isn't any better, he'll be lucky to be drafted.
In all honesty... I don't remember anyone mentioning him as a 1st rounder outside of TGG. The talk here was he MIGHT play himself into rd 1 while instead he's dropped himself after rd 3.
Yeah, we were all in that boat a couple of months ago, I don't know whats going on with Beal but his stock is on a sharp decline
Seems to be this years Everson Griffen. Shame, I think he'll be halfway decent standing up. And now the price for him is dropping fast.
Just a note for people, what matters one hell of a lot more than the 40 time for these 34 OLB types is their ten yard split. I haven't seen any posted anywhere yet, but if someone finds them, post it here.
Sweet, thanks Magilla. Got to love the get off from Sam Acho, people aren't really giving that guy credit with the rest of these rising 34 OLBs. He was great at the Senior Bowl practices and continues his hot streak. Physically he's a lot more O-Sackpo than he is Kindle.
Its about time someone gives Acho props. He just looks so fluid at the LB spot you have to like him. I don't think he lasts till the late 3rd anymore. That's where everyone had him until today. Brooks Reed's workout today will put him in the top 50. He had some beautiful change of direction and burst today in the drills. Coaches will go look at the tape to see if it matches up. He made money today. If Cameron Jordan goes to Dallas, I'd sit there unsurprised.
He's proving me wrong, I initially thought of him as strictly a 43 DE, but after the Senior Bowl and now the Combine, I can say I was wrong. Love his work ethic. One person that didn't make that top 10 who had a great 10 yard split was Marcell Dareus, 1.66 at a pound away from 320? Yikes...
Good gravy, that's some burst for Dareus. They say what Fairley's 10 yd split was? If he keeps this up (and other guys continue their own respective successes), Acho could very easily be a target for the Jets at #30. As for Dallas, at this point it might be Tyron Smith vs. Cam Jordan for the Cowboys, two guys who need to buy bigger wallets after the past few weeks.
Mayock mentioned this today, and said outright, "see, that's a 43 DE with his hand in the dirt" But I could see it was more his footing than his hips. I don't see him slipping like that in uniform on sundays. But I will say that Brook Reed looked much better.
