I really like Brian Rolle - he most definitely can't play in the 3-4, but he's going to be a hell of a special teamer.
Jesus H. Christ...Martez Wilson just ran an unofficial 4.44 Also, UCLA's Akeem Ayers just hurt his stock running consecutive 4.8s. That's surprisingly slow.
Justin Houston ran consecutive 4.6s at 270 pounds. I think it's safe to say he's out of the Jets' reach now.
His play makes him raw. But... but he's not fast?? Right?? That's what a website told me!! MY WORLD IS ENDING. Thus why he's #12 in my top 50. OOHH, look at big Cam Jordan. That kid is printing money at this point.
Whoa, that's not what I was saying whatsoever. I was simply stating that if his mechanics remain consistent, considering the athleticism he showed at the combine, he should be looked at as a backup QB option. Arguing that Portis has more upside, talent, athleticism, etc. than Newton after the fucking Combine is idiocy. But if you were listening to Mayock, he said that Newton was showing some laziness in his drops and motion. He then complimented Portis on his technique. Obviously Portis is not better than Newton. But he showed some pockets of talent, which could warrant consideration as a backup.
Oklahoma DE Jeremy Beal posted a forty time of over 5.0 at the Scouting Combine on Monday. Beal was thoroughly unimpressive at the Senior Bowl, so he needed a big Combine to allay concerns he might lack necessary athleticism for the NFL. Obviously, a time of 5-plus seconds in the forty is only going to hurt Beal further. Despite a ridiculously productive college career, Wes Bunting of the National Football Post is grading Beal as an undrafted free agent. Who cares about the Bunting comment but more than 5 seconds? wow...
thats crazy. Clearly Beal is not that slow. He will run better at his pro day, but good lord, if that time is somehow replicated (or doesn't show significant improvement) by his pro day, Beal is going to free-fall. It's one thing to be track slow and football fast, but to be slower than a bunch of the lineman at the 40, its really going to hurt him if this is right...
This is just one example, but you guys have been pointing out risers flying up the boards by being even more athletic than expected, how about some guys falling? J.J. Watt and Cam Jordan can't be flying up boards, without pushing people down.
Is 6-4 250 his official weight per the combine? Fairley's measurables were fudged a bit by Auburn (as are a lot of guys) just curious if Wilson is that size legitimately. He looks closer to 6'2 225 on the field.
The problem is that guys like Watt and Jordan is that they were projected mid-first ahead of where the jets pick.. so even though the are moving up the board they aren't pushing anyone back... they are simply swapping spots with another player that wouldn't have gotten to us anyway.. but this is a ridiculously deep DL draft and a DE at the end of this draft is compatible to a top 15 DE in previous drafts.. imo unfortunately Cam Jordan is out of the question with the ridiculous numbers he put up today to solidify his position, but Cam Heyward and Muh Wilkerson are two really really good DE that can definitely be there when we pick
I'm pretty sure the 6'4 250 is what he was measured at the combine.. he could have added a few pounds .. and with a 40 time like that it looks like he is handling it very well
Between 3-4 Ends like Wilkerson and Heyward and 3-4OLBs improving their stock we're going to bring home a very good player with our #30 pick.
This is a damn good draft for 3-4 front seven players. We should be able to bring in a couple solid guys in April.
Nevermind, I read front 3 instead of front 7... yeah I agree, hopefully our DL will be much improved with a talented DE from the draft and one between Dixon, Gilbert and Pitoitua stepping their game up. ATM I can't make up my mind on what to hope for... a DE in rd 1 and an OLB in rd 3 or viceversa...
