Your owner is on a tirade about it... I just find it funny. I don't believe ANYONE should be breaking the rules, but it makes me laugh out loud pretty hard to hear the Cheatriots crying about it now. Oh, really?
They prefer "cheated". "Violated the rules" leaves some doubt about whether they "cheated". Just clarifying. SundayJack seems to have a more objective view. You get caught breaking the rules, you get punished, case closed. I remember, being in the Jets fans place, every year getting beat up by the Dolphins with Dan Marino, or the Bills with Kelly and Co. Every year having a losing record. It's easy to hate success in a division rival....especially when you are down and out as a franchise.
We should defer to you Pats fans on cheating... given your extensive experience on the subject.
if the colts cheated, they should be held accountable. But funny how when THEIR team cheated, Patriots fans said everyone else should stop whining, everyone does it, yadda yadda yadda. Now when THEIR team accuses a different team of cheating, it's a whole different story.
I have flexible morals on sports gamesmanship. I guarantee you that the Patriots are still somehow videotaping coaches signals. I assume they're not dumb enough to do it from the sidelines anymore. I HOPE that the Jets are doing the same, and actually assume that they are. Calling timeouts to ice kickers; hitting quarterbacks with more than a little brush-by hit; punching someone in the nuts at the bottom of the pile; mimicking the snapcount to make an offense jump; signal stealing; piping noise to bother offenses - I put these things all in the same category. Gamesmanship. Cheating is reserved, in my mind, to much bigger offenses. Point shaving, for example.
1. In this case...IF the Colts piped noise, I wouldn't call that cheating. That's gamesmanship. However, as with the Pats, they were warned by the league about it already, so some sort of punishment would be fitting. 2. The Pats fans have a certaiun hate and dislike for all things Colts, them being our biggest rival....especially Polian, the arch enemy on the competition committee. Any chance to throw darts at Polian is taken, much like Jets fans to the Pats. 3. I think every team has gimmicks and does something to help their team win on the field, especially at home....in fact, I think this is how Spygate got started...but that's another story.
credit to you, then. But the vast majority of Patriots fans I deal with on message boards took an entirely different attitude.
Indy cheats, too! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=QHQTcFQEMXo Ok, not really cheating, but also not very nice.
