Laveranues Coles runs his mouth when he gets upset, stressed, over-worked, whatever. He runs his mouth when he has nothing better to do. He's also a very good wide receiver and a huge asset to the team. As long as he's complaining about playing conditions and Mangini's style (i.e nothing) then there's no issue here. it's just a cost of having him on the team and I will happily bear that as will the Jets. If he starts complaining about money or his contract like Kendall then things would be different, but he's not doing that right now.
To be honest i couldnt care what he does as long as he keeps making those lays similar to the one agaisnt the Pats last year.
Didn't Cochery and Baker get a free pass from practice based on being on the winning team from a game over the summer? I don't remember Coles getting a free "get out of practice card". If Coles wanted a day off so bad, maybe he should'a tried harder during the summer. Or maybe he thought Mangini said the "whinning" team gets a pass.
Okay, so now that we have determined for a fact that Coles was venting, let's pay as much attention to it as we should have the last dozen times some dope reporter rushed an out of context quote to the press.
I didn't say Coles said anything, but maybe before he bitches about how hard practice is he should remember that playing pro football is a priviledge not a right and that millions of people would give anything to participate in those hard practices.
Playing Pro Football is a privilege that people earn by being very good at playing football. For many the privilege wears thin as the pounding piles up. For a 29 year old receiver with a couple of concussions (at least) in the past playing Pro Football is a business and a risky one at that. I take Coles comments about his future at face value. The bitching about practices is clearly venting, but I have no doubt that he sees the handwriting on the wall, as do most players his age.
coles is not bitching he just wants to have a chance to be known throughout history be on some list, he probably will not be a hall of famer, be he is making it clear he wants to play long enough to try and have it on the radar.. coles is a tough guy, he just wants to play at 100% every game, but its hard if your playing on a system that challenges you even when you practice... your knees wont last forever, coles is that good and he is paying the price for being that good, cothery will be facing the same now and in years to come if he stays a jet. but i think cotch can take more pain than coles.
