OK we get it, you think these comments are bitchy and you don't like Coles. Why post the same quotes we've already seen? Because the most negative Jets reporter out there added his own commentary between them?

OMGZ he said he doesn't have a feel for Favre and he did with Chad on the first day. Trade him already.

Agree. Who gives a shit if they are buddies or if they bond (that's so precious), just get open and catch 90 balls for 1600 yards.

The issue as i see it is many of the posters here have an idea of how a player should or shouldn't behave very much forged in masculine identity. ie Get on with it, take your lumps like a man, shoulder the burden etc.

Because Coles doesn't do this except when playing hurt and having his safety put at risk when CP hung him out to dry on countless occasions and verbalises as a way of sorting out his perspective he is derided by many on this board as a "a whiny little bitch" In other words diminish his manhood cos he's not measuring up to the stereotypes we've all been fed about about being a man and being a sporting icon is way up there in that area.

How many of us hear don't grumble and complain at times when the we're unhappy

Consider his life history and the negative experiences he had as a child. For him (like many others in his sitaution) to be making positive contribution shows a real strength of character to have come out of adversity.

I've never met the man, never will and don't want to psychoanalyse him but his "personality" is not that uncommon for abuse survivors and I reckon his way of being reflects that.

Coles is undoubtedly feeling a shift in his situation and needs to adjust. The worry for me is where his head is at and how the Jets staff and those around him help him get to grips. Reporters know his style and will target him looking for quotable stuff.

I gave it a little thought and came to the conclusion that Coles is really out of the spot light right now. Is his displeasure due to being put on the back burner , while Cotchery has emerged as having a better connection to Farve . If laveranues starts to complain while on the side lines , then I believe we have a problem that will persist throughout the year in order to make his departure welcome. I hate to think about a player like this , but like I always say "Every word you say is a doorway to you" Coles is letting his slip show it seems every time he gets a chance.

I don't dislike Coles. My only reason to post it was because there were a few prople who were making the connection that he is somehow misinterpreted, or taken out of context regularly...It wasnt that he said he and Favre didn't have a rapport, but more to the point that He and Chad had it from the first day///I don't know how you can take that out of context, when you are given the context. And the Jets shouldn't trade him...

I totally agree with this statement. I do not think Coles will be a Jet this year. Had Kellen cemented his role as starting QB last year, I do not think Coles is even on this team. I think there would have been a big trade to move Coles.

That in and of itself is a whine. "No matter what I say, I'll be villainized" How hard would it have been for him to say "Chad is my boy, I'm happy for him, but as far as the Jets, we have to move on, and we'll see what happens"

So, yeah the justification is horseshit. He takes every opportunity he can to make everything about him. Not speaking to the media for a month because the QB got released? Give me a break...that's friggin childish at best. That's this guy's problem, he needs to grow the fuck up. The whole "Woe is me" thing is old.

Really, how else can you take the comment about Brett changing the plays? Maybe he wass just being constructive in his critique. Yeah...that's delusional. He's griping again and quite fucking frankly, he's not good enough to be that whiney. Really..Coles is THE most overrated receiver in the NFL. What has he done to make himself spectacular? I think you people defending him have become so accustomed to mediocrity that you think this guy is the diggity-shit. He's not. Average at best, and a fucking whiner.

H'mm I wonder how many times LC has invited CP to his house & if he did how many times did CP go to LC home. Also the exact same thing in the reverse. I would bet money the answer in both cases is ZERO. Now if I am correct what does that say about there so called "buddies" thingy?

Yeah, people here have the nerve to bitch because others here call him out. Well, he brought it all on himself from the day he left for Snyder's money to his constant whining about his contract to what he is doing now. Tough shit, he's a punk and deserves nothing.

Like I said he can't win. No matter what he says or doesn't say people are going to pick apart. He has pretty much said what you suggested he should have since then but people only want to focus on the negative.

He could have said "I love lamp" and it would have been analyzed and broken down for negative undertones. I can hear it now, "Why does he love the lamp and not Favre? The guy clearly only cares about the lamp."

How is what he did different from any other player? The Jets refused to match the Redskins, so he went to Washington. That's just business.

What a freaking joke... it is a joke right? You aren't biased against the guy... you were just trying to inspire lively debate, or to bring things back into context and focus. Riiiiight... look at the thread title you gave this. That alone pretty much sums up how YOU feel about him.

Coles while moody, bitchy, whiney, or whatever it is he's feeling or being portrayed as feeling, never has given less than 100% to this organization. And so long as he keeps bringing the fight to the field every Sunday I give a shit what kinda crap these reporters want to write about. As I said before... this is simply the next best story they can manufacture now that we don't have a QB "controversy" in play. You can get sucked into it, or you can just enjoy some football on Sunday.

this is a non issue. the media is going to make it one so as to:
a)punish coles for stepping away from them
b)have a nice story arc in contrast to the BF manlove.
c)feed their kids and pay their mortgage by selling stories.

THAT is EXACTLY the point...He knows it is a business, yet he takes Chad getting released personally. Maybe if Chad signed a huge FA contract that would have made a difference. Coles can't play the money grab, and then complain when a move is made to improve the team, and the chance of it winning.
