it seemed like he was letting his emotions get out to the media to. being a little bitch when he didn't get the extra coin and would've ditched his 'best friend' if we didn't make his comfortable salary a little more comfy. hardly a team leader that bitches and moans... look across the field and there's a guy named jerricho who i have heard nothing but hard work and dedication to winning... i'd rather guarantee the rest of his money.
Coles is an iffy dude. Good WR when he has a QB like Favre to throw him the deep ball but I question where his heart lies. Will he leave the Jets for another team when his contract is up? I don't know..
According to Mangini and many of the players, Coles is one of, if not, THE HARDEST WORKING player on the team. Mangini has stated more than once that this is exactly why he was voted a team captain. (Remember, his teammates, who know him best, voted him a team captain) He has developed a reputation in the locker room for being a fearless competitor who plays through injuries that other guys wouldn't. I don't see how any of us can question this from the outside looking in.
it has gone from baker to coles. people just like to be mad at someone it appears, and if they are someone who will speak their mind or stand up for what they believe to be right then they will surely be the ones who are bashed. just wait until dustin keller does something next year that people dont like, they will bash him too even though they are ridin his jock like a champ right now.
So what has that got to do with the Jets? How about I remind you that he is also the NFL's altime leader in INT's? Care to show me a stat says he is the all time NFL leader?
I'm implying that he is in it for his own puprose. Whether it is for money, to keep alive his 275 game consecutive playing streak, or to thumb his nose towards the Packers. I believe winning for the Jets is not his highest priority.
Quote: "...Whether it is for money, to keep alive his 275 game consecutive playing streak, or to thumb his nose towards the Packers. I believe winning for the Jets is not his highest priority...." This is hogwash, in my opinion. Brett only plays football because he wants to win games. Putting ulterior motives in that man's mind will just get them spit out like a sour cherry pit. Quote: "...I am one of those stupid people that would still rather have Santana Moss...." Well, I have to agree with you that's pretty stupid alright. Santana is hurt too much, and it doesn't take very much to send him out of the game. Coles is a warrior, and he plays hurt, and he can take a lickin' and keep on kicking ass. Quote: "...Everything from nyj.com is homeristic propaganda...." Randy Lange made an interesting comment today in his response to posters -- "...We try to [bring info on the team] every day, but we're not going to get as analytical and critical as some of the beatwriters covering the team. For that you'll need to check out our Clippings page or some individual newspaper Websites." He seems to appreciate that his is a different position than Cimini or Boland, etc. So what? I think Randy Lange has put some interesting insights (not just bullshit, either) about the NYJs out for his readers since he came over to the NYJs.
Yes. on over 8750 pass attempts. However, per attempt Favre throws a pic every 30 attempts. Pennington every 34. Favre throws a TD every 20 attempts. pennnigton every 23. Also in the last 14 years he has only failed to throw 20 or more TD's once (2006). In that span he averages 28 TD tosses a year.... And...dont forget durability.
Those 16 INT's that CP threw in 2006 were a bit misleading - he had major shoulder surgery the previous year, so other than the 12 he thru in 2003, 2006 was his only year in double figures. The first 8 years of Farve's career he has tossed 118 INTs, The last 9 years he has thrown 170. He's had 16 season of INTS in double figures. My point is - How does most everyone hear seem to think this is an upgrade? Maybe when watching the game we will get to see opposing CB's have career games. I guess that's the upgrade.
There's nothing misleading about it. He still has 2 major shoulder surgeries on his throwing shoulder. He's not the player he once was (2002). Have you seen both QB's play? The object is to score points, right? Last 5 Years: Penny: 58 TD's - 49 INT's Favre: 128 TD's - 100 INT's So Favre has thrown 28 more TD's than INT's while Penny has thrown 9 more TD's than INT's. You do understand that not every INT results in a score, right? Especially when they're thrown further down field. Pennington's INT's are almost never down field. Considering every INT does not result in a score, it's better to throw 10 TD's and 10 INT's than 5 TD's and 5 INT's, right? Then take into consideration the fact that Pennington has actually thrown more INT's per TD than Favre over the past 5 years. In the last 5 years Pennington has thrown 1.18 TD's per int while Favre has thrown 1.28 TD's per int.
When you have a QB that throws 16 INT's one year after coming back from major shoulder surgery, it certainly is misleading just looking at stats alone! He missed all 90% of 2005. don't you think he'd be a little rusty? That's all well and fine about TD's vs INT's but when you consider each teams approach in offensive strategies, Pennington had the wind facing him in Shottenheimer. Two completely different approaches. Look, I won't argue with someone who seems to think a stranger coming in off the streets seems to feel he deserves to be anointed "Broadway". You have your way. I'll post here when the time comes if I am wrong or right. We shall see.
You're not going to argue with me because my screen name is "Broadway Brett". Get over it man, it's all in fun. We're all Jets fans. OK - even if you take 2006 (His ONLY 16 game season) away and he still has a worse TD/INT rate than Favre at 1.24 to Favre's 1.28. Penny: 41 TD's - 33 INT's Blame the OC all you want. The bottom line is Favre has always moved the ball and scored points. Pennington hasn't. How many drives have we seen stalled with Pennington at helm because he threw a 3 yard dump pass on 3rd and 12? All you have to do is watch both QB's play to see who's CLEARLY the better QB. We don't need to look at stats. The fact that you're trying to argue that Pennington is as good as Favre is absurd. The goal is to score points.
I thought you guys were concerned about Coles, but you all are persisting in justifying your shit-canning of Chad Pennington... Hey, you got your wish, the cat is long gone. Why argue about yesterday fish wrappings...? I think it is better to wait and see what happens on the 7th of September. Then we can take up the cudgel once again. Right?
Maybe....just maybe....ole Noodle arm was the wind in Schotty's face. (mind you I think a coach that cant adapt, needs coaching himself...but...) Mangini has already made several media comments about things that were not previously possible... And on the INTs...(which goes back to my original post...)...an INT 40 yards downfield...i an INT. An INT on a floating 10 yard out is six the other way.
