Have you ever heard of Danny Woodhead? He should be gone before David Clowney. Aundrae Allison is coming off of a serious injury and Clowney is the better, healthier deep threat. Holmes isn't on the roster for the first four games. Therefore, we have an extra spot! It's almost like magic. See ya in 6 months.
Did I list Danny Woodhead in the 5 WR list? therefore obviously I don't feel he should be one of the 5.... pick a fight elsewhere.
No, you listed Allison, who is on the same level of importance. With Holmes suspended our WR corps will look like this: Edwards Cotchery Coles Smith Clowney Smith can play special teams and is more of a role player.
Bringing in Coles sounds like a good move to me. Depending on Brad Smith until Holmes shows up? Not so much.
Alison is a natural WR...Woodhead is a converted nice story RB...Alison can clearly contribute more and if he didn't get hurt least year Woodhead is cut and doesn't last all season, irregardless of Leon's injury.
A natural WR coming off of a major knee injury with 18 receptions in 26 games. Clowney has a surprising 15 receptions in 15 games.
A) i can wear my jersey again b) his hands still work even though his speed has diminished c) coles was always a good run blocker
I will never understand why the mods on this site let "Mr Electric" run around doing his e-bully BS... EDIT: Oh, and on OT: I loved Coles back in the day, and I love having him back. I feel for Clowney if he gets cut (really, he's a great guy), but Coles, even at his age/skill is better than Clowney.
Yes... But we were comparing Alison to Woodhead...Alison is not a converted player...he has always been a WR whereas Woodhead was an experiment that failed... whta does that have to do with Clowney?
Allison is, as you've been told before, coming off a major knee injury. Clowney is coming off 3+ seasons of doing absolutly nothing. Woodhead is coming off a season where he barely made the team and barely contributed. Coles is coming off a season where he had better stats than all 3 of the options mentioned in this thread, combined.
I'm aware he is coming off a major injury...but if you read up that was not the point of the comparison...
Coles Just don't say this is cover Holmes spot. Holmes is additional help anyway. Holmes did not replace anyone on last years roster. I think this is just more signs that this is going to be a much more balanced attack.
I don't really understand the need to get Coles. We're meant to be a ground and pound team so the quality of the 4th or 5th target isn't of great importance, especially for only 4 games. But it's to be for vet minimum and it will be nice to see him back.I have a lot of respect for what he's done for us.I'm guessing he'll be cut when Holmes comes back from suspension.
Not to derail the thread, but... If you think someone is "stupid" and/or has a "stupid" opinion, then say you disagree. Then explain why (or don't, whatever). Making arguments personal only serves to make you look like an jerk and usually ends up derailing the thread (*cough* *cough*).
I like the Coles idea. Give him vet minimum, let him be the #3 for the first 4 games, then drop him to #4 or completely cut him afterwards. Or if he does poorly in training camp, cut him before the season. It would not be a bad signing if the money was low.
When you compared the Coles move to the Strickland move, you lost it. The point in bringing up the knee injury tho, is he has never done a single thing in the NFL, AND he suffered a major injury. He could be absolutly nothing. Why should we depend on someone who we have no idea what he can do?
