I have no confidence in Clowney or Brad Smith as a WR while Holmes is out. I'm perfectly ok with this move.

Thank god I can dig out an old jersey and wear it again!!!

With Holmes out for 4 games we need a reliable slot guy as Cotch will be out wide , Coles is just that . Good hands and he is a worker depsite his whining

    Welcome back LC!

I'm not angry. It's just a little annoying to see an attention whore show up in random threads.

What you were saying wasn't true at all...

We also improved our special teams greatly with the signing of Lance Laury and selection of John Conner. These guys are going to be big improvements over Izzo and Fowler.

    Good riddance.

I just donated my Coles replica jersey to salvation army. So I don't want him to come back - I'd feel like a fool.

    ?

As long your bashing has some kind of role in Coles' scoring a TD, then I'm all for it.

    Keep up the...good...work.

give me one example of how i'm being an "attention whore"

I'm aware we have improved our special teams but we still need more bodies considering we lost 2 and our coverage wasn't all that great last year...you are contradicting yourself...

on one hand you say we should try clowney at the gunner...on the other you are saying screw clowney we need coles on the roster since he'll never see the field..

    which is it??

Not a fan of this one. We run the ball too much to worry about a 3rd receiver for only 4 weeks. are the young WR reallly bad that you can't let them play 1 out of 6 plays. having 3 wr on the field means taking out Richardson or Keller. I love using TE on play actions since LB will like to play against the run since it's their main job. You should never take out Richardson since he is an elite lead blocker (since 2002, teams he was on have over 4.3 yds per play and peaking at 5.3 (2007 MIN) for the whole season. The year he came to Jets the rushing for MIN went from 5.3 to 4.5 then 4.1. Gotta keep him on the field and that means 2 WR for the most part.

I like Coles but don't think this was necessary for success.

Any chance this moves means Brad Smith will be officially moved to 3rd String QB/Wildcat specialist?

Or does putting him on a Wildcat play screw us bc it would count as putting in our Emergency QB and wouldnt let us put someone else back in?

He might be injury prone, but bringing a guy like that with his experience will do wonders for our passing game weeks 1-4. They are very important games and Coles will probably get paid peanuts. That being said, tremendous pickup for the Jets. I'm reallly stoked for this year.

    SEEYA DOUCHEBAG!

I'm all for Coles coming back. We get an improvement at WR, since Clowney is the Ratliff of the WR slot. Does good in a few pre-season series and is suddenly the next Jerry Rice.

Plus, now I don't have to trade a 7th round pick for him in Madden.

"I'm never posting here again! Waahhh!"

    ...next day...

"Coles sucks! ...well back into TGG retirement for me because no one on this board is as civilized as myself"

...and so on, and so on, and so on...

I'm sure the good people at JetsInsider are anxiously awaiting your return.

    No, I'm definitely not.

I said Coles is a better option IN THE SLOT. I never said anything about this affecting Clowney's role on special teams.

Clowney's still on the roster, isn't he? That means he's got a shot at competing for a gunner spot.

Well here is a major bright spot on the Laveranues Coles signing.

The second time the Bengals played the Ravens week 9

....... REC YDS AVG TD LG
    L. Coles 6 72 12.0 0 32

    And rushed for 8 yards.

actually not the next day more like 6 months ago....

another WR on the roster likely ends any role clowney plays on the team...for a team that isn't pass heavy I don't see a need to carry more than 5 receivers.

    Edwards
    Holmes
    Cotchery
    Clowney (possible ST guy)
    Alison

IMO the 4th WR we carry should be able to contribute in ST coverage..

I've added a little more color than coles sucks...in fact i never said coles sucks...i just don't see a need for him on this team...you can disagree and that's fine by me...

I guess its time to buy one.

Don't bet on it. Rex is chanting ground n pound still but I think this will be a lot more balanced team. I expect the Jets snaps to be split pretty evenly between passing and running. And if Sanchez playes like he did in the playoffs, expect the passing game to be more prevalent - especially when Holes returns. 4 & 5 WR sets will be a bit more commonplace then you think.

Besides. Coles can still be kept on for depth in case of injury or just to keep the receiving core fresh.

Good move on the Jets part.

Going over the middle bar Chrebet i have not seen a better Jet catch the ball in traffic.

I am sure there were and will be better but coles has always been excellent during his time in Green.

i am actually delighted to see him back ( i am biased he is one of my all time favourites)

An upgrade on Clowney who could be traded for a 5th or 6th as we have the burner Allinson whom missed last season after loooking good in PS

Fair but not fail. You have a number one receiver who competed for number one spots for most of his career. Overachiever if you ask me for his size. Of course not like Chrebet, another overachiever, but an admirable at least. He will beat Clowney and Smith hands down in camp. You sound like he has no business in the slot at all. That's what I took fail to mean.
