Coles and his agent are smart though. Didn't they get a lot out of Cincinnati? Thats genius for a guy, who one year later, can't even get signed by a single team.
I hear what you say and I'm far from convinced that Coles is the answer, but given the first four games are against one of the top picks for the Superbowl this season and the whole of the AFC East, I'm more than a little worried about the fact that we are going into them with the same receiving corps as last season, a back division that is only hopefully better than last time out, and our fingers crossed that Sanchez is going to be the player we know he could be. Don't get me wrong, I've got a lot of faith and belief in this team - I believe that Braylon will cut out the drops, Greene will be the player we saw in the postseason, LT will revel in playing behind this O-line and Dustin Keller will continue his development into one of the most underrated TEs in the game, but I can understand the desire for another experienced pair of hands for Sanchez to aim at in a series of games that could set the entire tone for our season.
Coles Rob Moore helped us win a few too, doesn't mean we bring him back. There is no logical reason to sign him at this point. If a receiver gets injured in camp then sure, why not.
Coles could be valuabale as a bit player for us. Do you have confidence Clowney can be productive those first 4 weeks? If we got him it would be primarily for the first 4 weeks while Holmes is out. I think it is a possibility and I think we could use another WR especially for that first month.
I agree w/ that but I don't think Woodhead has a future on our team. Clowney is useful on STs and we could carry 5 WRs after Holmes is back and have a pretty damn deep WR corps.
I heard the Rams just signed him to a 3 year deal for 20 million and the next day he demanded a trade to Miami because they did not respect him.
Coles has not been a guy that can be counted on for years now. Even when he was putting up numbers, every other game he would run off the field grabbing something. Shame for him, because he has a 40,000 sq foot house that he's gonna have to sell at 25 cents on the dollar in a few years.
Woodhead is a RB too. I still say that I would have liked to see what Woodhead could have done if he had gotten a few of the 10 or so touches TJ got in the second half of the Indy game.
Of course....but in reality would Coles ever come back here after being the #1 receiver on this team and accept that type of role? I think the point is that the Jets need to not bring the past into the future. Coles represents another era in Jets football IMO and I think bringing him back, would usher back some of that Mangininess, just by the sight of him. That era of Jets football died in 2008 and I'd like to leave it that way. I've seen in this thread, posters say that Coles can be a mentor type of leader....do we have short memories? Coles was a media nightmare when he was here, whining, isolating himself from his teammates and the fans....NO THANKS to Lav Coles...
