Laveranues Coles-WR- Jets Oct. 23 - 12:59 pm et Coach Eric Mangini revealed Thursday that Laveranues Coles suffered a concussion in the Jets' Week 7 loss to Oakland. Coles sat out Wednesday's practice in its entirety and is in great danger of missing Week 8. This is his third known concussion in the last 22 months. Teams typically hold players out the following week when they're coming off injuries like this. It appears Brad Smith could start against the Chiefs. Source: Newark Star-Ledger
Jerricho Cotchery-WR- Jets Oct. 23 - 1:27 pm et The NY Daily News agrees with ESPNews' prediction that Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) will be a game-time decision in Week 8. Cotchery appeared "very limited" in the opening part of Thursday's practice and didn't participate in one-on-one drills. He is likely to be listed as questionable. Brad Smith and Chansi Stuckey may be forced to start Sunday. Source: New York Daily News
I think the Jets will treat the Kansas City game like a bye week for our passing offense. With the ground game likely to be strong, I'd guess Coles and Cotchery will both sit. Look for TJ to run wild and maybe Brad Smith & Keller to catch a few balls.
Prior to this year he sucked. So far this year he's looked like a real NFL receiver. We will probably see them both on the field Sunday at the same time. He will show us that he doesn't suck anymore.
He hasn't been in that much. You will see if he gets significant time this Sunday. I hated him as a receiver last year too.
I will give him a chance. Hopefully he is better. I just think Stuckey is the real deal and needs to get more reps.
Smith will finally be ready next year. I love the guy, so maybe my bias is speaking. But I think when given the opportunity and time to develop on WR only, he has enough natural skill to learn the position. He's already dangerous whenever he touches the ball -- that's invaluable. All he needs to do is learn and refine his WR skills.
I like Stuckey, he's a different type of receiver though. Neither will be a game breaker but I think both can be effective in different ways.
That looks like a good line up to me. Let the guys sit so they can get heathy. With the bye week come and gone it would not be good for them both to have nagging injuries for the rest of the season. Lets get healthy for the trip to ralph wilson!
