Wow...if Pennington was on our roster now we'd be laughing about that Manning/Brady comp...not that I don't think Pennington wouldn't have been a great, great QB if his shoulder wasn't torn apart twice.

It sucks to be right and I want to thank Puddin' Head for testifying to my superior understanding of this football team.

When I heard that Favre didn't want to go to the Jets and that the Bucs had upped their interest, I breathed I sigh of relief.

I knew Pennington, another year removed from his surgery/injury would be stronger, and with the new linemen around him and better defenders, I had hopes for 10 wins, easy.

On the morning the deal went down, I woke up a 6am for some reason down at in Wildwood, NJ on vacation. I stumbled into the living room of the guest house and turned on the TV and saw the news of the trade on the scroll at the bottom of the screen. I saw the imminent release of Pennington. I wiped the sleep from my eyes, hoping that I was reading it wrong.

My brother called me hours later rejoicing that his favorite player was now with his favorite team (Favre and the Jets). He was incredulous that I was upset with the move.

Now he understands, and so does everyone else. Don't fuck with the Sour, I've watched this team forever and they've rarely surprised me. This was an ill fit and a move made for the interests of the BUSINESS of the NYJ, not the TEAM.

There was, of course, a slim chance that it would pay off in a big way. There still is..but it dies with a loss today.

I'm praying for a win...I'm starting Favre in my FFL figuring its about time for a good performance. I've got a half of season ticket left and I want to see meaningful games.

I think they might win today. Mangini and Favre are certainly overdue.
But win or lose, it was not the right move to make. Period.

PS: Thanks for the interest MiamiPuck, but GSour don't swing that way.

Heheh... because it is really Henning throwing the passes on the field during Dolphin games? Sure, I would readily agree that their playcalling and offensive schemes beat ours to shit everyday, but still, Pennington was supposed to be done. Never start again. He still has to go out and make the throws.

At any rate, I think the halfway point in the season is a bit early for comparisons. By seasons end I believe we will be ahead in the QB derby.

I really hate to resurrect this nonsense because picking corn kernels out of someone's shit is more interesting than this argument............ but GSour I want add I wouldn't let you fornicate with my pet monkey. You can't even read a quote let alone post a cogent argument on anything football related. You were so completely wrong it isn't even funny!

This analysis seems about right. The Dolphins are WAY better now than they ever were the last few seasons, and a lot of that has to do with them finally getting a decent QB. Penny and Parcells are going to make contenders out of the Dolphins. It's going to be one heck of a race next season in the AFC East.

i luve you fellow jet fans. But you guys are just to whacky. If 2 out of 10 of you wanted to keep pennington after the last couple years or were thay high on him at any poing i would be surprised.: I was huge pennington fan so I know there is some but come on its now universal that we should have kept hiim and he is top tier, come on guys be real. Your the same ones who now look back and realize how good Curtis martin was but bitch he did not break the long runs.

There is really no end to the Pennington fans out there is their haha. Ok, I will admit every even year Pennington does play better for some reason, but i don't think he would be up to the level as Brady or Peyton. Everyone could play the what if Pennington didn't get injuryed crap, but it comes down to that it actually happened. I mean if Pennington couldn't win a superbowl with us with that nasty team in 04, I don't think he was going to win one with us ever. Yes I know it wasn't his fault(fuck Doug O'Brien), but they unfortunately got knocked out and thus our team has never been the same. Right now, I don't think our team would be better than the 04 team if Pennington was on our team now. His time was done in NY after the 04 season, he couldn't possibly make it that far ever again. That's when I thought that we needed a new qb . Then, we got Favre. Now I think our team is up to the level of the 04 team, and have a chance at a superbowl. I do miss Pennington, don't get me wrong, but he's with the enemy now and I can not support him in anyway. Remember, we did go 10-6 in 04, so no one better say the seasons over, because I think this years Jets are much better.

    ^HAHAHAHA

Well it's clear that playcalling makes or breaks a QB. We seem to always bring in retarded OCs ever since Herman took over here... Chad's getting it done down there but isn't getting the TDs as usual and in the end THATs the most important part of the QB position: Get your team in the end zone.

Curtis Martin was a HB that every team would want for one reason. Consistency. He wouldn't break big runs, but he always would produce 1000 yards seasons every year he was in the nfl(with the exception of his last 2 seasons). Curtis Martin was a great back and should never be criticized for him not being able to break runs. He is the 4th all time nfl rushing leader if I'm not mistaken also, that's why everyone looks back on how good he was because he was a consistent monster.

I think the comparison is strictly based on this year and last.

That being the case, the packers are not big winners. They are 4-4 right now, and were 7-1 with #4 last year to this point. The packers offense is not nearly as productive as it was a year ago. Long term? Sure the packers won, but it's not like AR was going anywhere before he got a chance anyways.

And, the Jets were winners too. Say what you want about how well Chad is doing in Miami, fact remains that is a completely different system, and he is not asked to put points on the board. He is only asked to be safe with the football and get a first down. It was shown that he just didn't work well in the jets system. Technically, Favre isn't working too well in the system the jets have either, but he is being more productive then Chad was in it... so that is a W for the jets.

Plus, that is two straight games for favre where the final drive was crucial and he made all the throws he needed to make to get it done.

Well, Penny's passer rating was worse than Favre's today. Penny got picked off once and there were a few other passes that could have easily been intercepted, but were dropped.

Wait, this guy says that the Fish getting Pennington was the best player acquisition of the year? Jenkins and Pace are chopped liver then?
