Ryan runs a hybrid and so do we. We are trying to run with a 3-4 base personnel but if you watch the defense we run a ton of 4-3 and have since last season.
When I saw his name in there my eyes about popped from my head. since he worked under BB he knows mangini, which would def be a good thing....if he likes him.
I'm giddy. He's fiery from what I can remember, something the coaching staff needs - a shot in the arm and fresh ideas.
Even better he is Buddy Ryan's son. Buddy knows defense. He also was the Jets defensive coordinator when they won the Super Bowl. Getting him would be a huge coup on par with bringing in Belicheck in 1997.
too bad we played the cowboys this year...if buddys boy was here the dallas kicker would have been in deep shit.
Going to be intresting what happens with the Raiders DC. KIffin might want to hire his father to run the defense, but he has to be very careful as the defensive players are very loyal to Rob Ryan. Also the defense Monte Kiffin employs is a cover two defense. Also Raiders have been grooming LBs coach Don Martindale to be the DC,if Rob Ryan ever got a headcoaching job. I think how the Raiders finish just might decide Rob Ryan fate. Raiders finish strong win two out of four(At greenbay, Colts at Jaguars and Chargers) I don't think they will be making any changes, as they want to come out strong in 2008. Less changes they make better chance of tyhat occuring.
Just do not see it happening. He will certainly be in the mix for HC jobs as well, so I don't see a lateral move to us all that likely.
This years Tampa D plays almost nothing in the Tampa 2 (cover 2). It's been pretty much a whole new system this year.
I live in the tampa bay area and all over the news today, the speculation is that monte WILL join his son after this season..... Im not 1 to hold fast to speculation.... but it is getting a lot of press down here, so maybe there is something to it, which by the way, could change the entire complexion of your raiders as a team, I ve watched monte kiffen for years now and he definitely brings a lot to the table.... a very passionate, experienced , great d c....
I see Monte going to Oakland. I don't see Rob Ryan getting head coaching offers. Him and Mangini are very close it would be great to have them working side by side. I love the aggressive mentality on defense.
by no means am i talking shit, but if that's what you're basing Kiffin coming there on, then you can expect to see him in the silver and black next year.
This is interesting speculation, but I don't think Rob Ryan has done anything to merit losing his job, unless you pin the subpar run defense entirely on him (which I don't). Kiffin and Ryan seem to like coaching together. I'm sure Lane would love to coach with his dad, but would he fire a good coach to make it happen? I dunno.
The Raiders will be doing well to win any of those games. Maybe if the Chargers have clinched, but even then, it's a division game, and nobody wants to phone one of those in.
Bring the 46 to NY. I loved that dominant in your face style of B Ryans. I don'y know why it isn't used more. We actually have the personell now to use that now.
I like Rob Ryan and wouldn't mind having him as our DC if Sutton is let go BUT what has he really done in Oakland? Their D was "great" last year statistically but that had more to do w/ opponents knowing the oakland offense couldn't score therefore taking less chances against the oakland D. In '04 the Oak D was 31st in Points Allowed and 28th in Yards Allowed(18th and 20th on O), in '05 the Oak D was 25th in PA and 27th in YA(23rd and 21st on O), last year they were 18th in PA and 3 in YA(32nd in both yards and points) but now w/ a little better O again(21st and 22nd) the Oak D has fallen back to the bottom half of the league 17th in PA and 19th in YA.
The Skins are a mess right now. Campbell probably gone for the season, Gibbs under fire, the defense has underperformed, Sean Taylor tragedy, and their OL is about as good as the Jets OL. It will be interesting to see what gibbs does after the season.
