This is gay... We could of used his speed deep down field especially with Favre's cannon.

hate to see injuries in the preseason especially when they have played so well and were on the way to proving themselves to be an asset.

can someone tell me about the PUP i know they cannot play until week 8 and if they cannot play at that point they must be IRd for the rest of the season BUT what i dont know is if having someone on the PUP takes up a roster spot? it appears from the thread that it does not but i want to be sure.

HC i highly highly highly doubt that baker will be doing anything other than starting at TE this entire year.

The PUP lasts till week 6. Then either he is activated or put on IR. I can see him going on IR and coming back strong, like Pociask did this year.

I believe there is a roster spot available.

If Favre is really impressed by Keller, the kid will be starting, but 2 TE sets will be happening with Baker and Franks.

I think you might be right. My son had his snapped in two and I seem to recall 5-8 weeks until he was playing again !!!

    Its official ------- broken.

Jets WR David Clowney reportedly has a broken collarbone.
If surgery is required, he'll miss the season. Clowney was the Jets' most productive wideout of the preseason and was pushing Chansi Stuckey and Brad Smith hard for third receiver duty. That job may go to Stuckey now. Aug. 18 - 11:46 pm et

Damm. However, think about the grand scheme of things here- if Clowney, a guy we were all pulling for is the only casualty coming out of the preseason, we've done pretty well for ourselves. QB intact, no O-Linemen with tweaked knees, Jenkins is still doing alright.

I had really high hopes for the guy but we do have some depth in the WR area, albeit some of that depth is unproven when it comes to real action (Stuckey/Henry).

For our 3rd WR spot I'll be happy if its anyone except Brad "I suck at everything in life except for ST" Smith.

This is bad news, especially since Smith doesn't cut it.

Jets may have to see who gets cut that might be able to help.

So looks like its locked up to be Coles, Cotchery, B. Smith (yuck), Stuckey & Wallace Wright.
Marcus Henry could make it as a 6th WR roster spot, but at worst he is headed to the practice squad.
David Ball seems to be the odd man out unless they toss him on the practice squad.

Was really looking for Stuckey to stand out the way Clowney has, but it just hasnt happened yet.

I wonder if Usaim Bolt can catch a football. He will be available at the end of the week. 6'5" and can run a bit...he would be a nice addition.

I don't think there's anyway that Henry makes it all the way to the PS. He'll be taken in the blink of an eye- maybe the Giants will purge the squad once again, as they did a few years ago with our RB prospect.

My money says that Clowney goes to the IR- out for the year.

WR contingent is Coles, Cotchery, Stuckey, Wright, Henry and Smith (Smith is last simply because he's a smelly turd in a football uniform when not on ST.)

I'm pretty sure we've completely purged our petty cash fund w/all of our offseason signings.

That would be real nice..... but there's no way there's enough salary cap space after the Favre aquisition.

Sure there is just cut some vets that are really not contributing. He is making 4M now & is demanding 10M so us/him meet somewhere in the middle for this year & then do a new contract for 09 & beyond

to start cutting all the depth on the team for another WR (albeit a good one) is an injury away from disaster IMO.

Tenured VETS count less against the salary cap than their salary

If they cut Barrett and give Boldin a contract with absolutely no salary this year and a huge signing bonus that could work.

Favre to Boldin..wonder what the Vegas odds would be then. Of course Boldin would cost a first round pick and our first rounder for next year may already be gone. The odds even get greater if Boldin is here.

hmmm...... although it would be a dick move after he JUST took a paycut to stay with the team. Is there enough depth at CB?

3 WR formation of Coles, Cotchery and Boldin would be #1 in the NFL!
