We had a rookie pitch a no hitter until he popped a hammy. Pettitte has been absolutely solid every outing, he's just not getting run support. Wang pitched an almost perfect game, and has had only one bad outing. Moose is great whenever the game isn't big. Igawa is no longer anywhere near the majors. Clippard only has one game under his belt, but it was a pretty damn good one. Chase Wright only lost his spot because Joe let him pitch to two too many batters, and we needed room for Matsui. Karstens was good, but is now injured. DeSalvo has been okay. Rasner was a good enough #5 guy too, but he's on the DL too. Hell, even Glass Carla was good in his two appearances. If not for so many guys taking trips to the DL in the starting rotation, the Yankees would probably not have been as far back as they are now, even with the poor hitting. At least ARod was generating runs in April. Again, the Yankees starting pitching is not the problem. Our pitching overall is poor, but that's because as soon as the ball is in the hands of the bullpen, it's pot luck every night. But when the Yankees are hitting the way they're capable of, they're a very tough team to beat, regardless of the guy on the mound. They just haven't had any consistency in the lineup from guys not named Jeter, Posada, and Rodriguez.
The best thing I've read regarding Clemens' start the other day... http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=1002868
Good read. Pedro's comments were pretty good too. http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spmside0525,0,7121772.story?coll=ny-sports-headlines
I didnt appreciate Pedro's comments he needs to worry about his own damn team and actually trying to stay healthy.
It wouldn't surprise me if Buchholz was one of the reasons the Red Sox didn't even consider offering a new contract to Schilling prior to this season. Hedging their bets. My big concern is with the inevitable talk just prior to the trade deadline.
will he be scheduled to pitch against the CT Defenders next week? I will definitely check go if he is.
Not sure. I'd like to see him, myself. Actually, Portland isn't a bad take during the summer months. Hopefully, he stays there with this other kid, Michael Bowden, and they perfect their craft.
Between the two of them and Lester, I'm excited about the 2008.5/2009 rotation. Beckett, Matsuzaka, Lester, Buchholz, and Bowden. Five potential aces, all under 30 years old. It's my dream. As for your other post, unless it was for a Roy Oswalt or something, I don't see either of them going anywhere. And If it WAS for a Roy Oswalt, I could live with it.
