I'm still rational with my posts and don't over react to media drama. And no, 1-15 would not be the right direction. 7-9 / 6-10 with our best players out for the year isn't the end of the world, doesn't warrant firing the head coach. Sorry, but that's the simple fact of the matter. Only angry emotional fans looking for somebody to blame are actually calling for Rex's head. It's not even about dark vs light. It's about logic vs media drama.
LOL and by that logic, everybody over Rex should be gone including Woody. Everybody has different contributions to the team. You can't just over react and chop off the head because you injure your right arm. You fix the arm first. Our biggest issues this year were injuries and poor QB play. That points to Sparano and Cavanaugh, not Rex. Weak argument. The defense struggles against the run because we need linebackers, but all in all we're like 7th in league without Revis. That's pretty darn good. The defense clearly is not the problem on the team, when they usually limit teams to 14-17 points, yet the offense is too impotent to put up more than that, when they should. I'm not absolving him of all blame, he's still "young" in his head coaching career and his career win% is around 10th in the league amongst active head coaches. I'm not making it up. One bad year with injuries does not equal cleaning house from a coaching standpoint. You look at injuries, it falls on Tanny for lack of depth. Simple as. The only thing you can say Rex did wrong this year was play Sanchez too long, but with his contract it made sense, and his contract is traced to Tanny not Rex. Your only argument about Rex is that we had a declining year and was loyal to Sanchez. That's IT. You are not a rational fan, you just want to blame somebody and since the media paints Rex as this arrogant clown, you just follow along like a cute little sheep doing exactly what they want you to do. Calm thyself. It's not the end of the world. 2 good years, 1 mediocre year, and 1 mediocre year with our 2 best players hurt. Doesn't warrant firing. Sorry. Proof? Drama queen shit, nothing to do with football. The media is the only thing that turned our team into a laughing stock. They thrive off negativity, but again, that's drama queen shit, not football related. I don't give a fuck if people talk. In 2010 our team was way more loud and boisterous than today, and we won more games. Oops, so much for that fallacy ridden argument! Ummm, he rode the guy that TANNY designated the starter for the next 2 years with a ludicrous contract given to an unproven player. Rex was loyal because the plan was to keep him at the helm. There's no good reason to get rid of Rex. It's all drama queen reasons. His post season record, his football record, his league rating in career win %, the defense he helped build, and anything else related to football suggests he should stay.
Its not one bad season due to injuries. Its a downward trend that doesnt have an end in sight unless you truly make changes. Its a pitiful offense thats truly hard to watch. Its the depletion of talent on the roster. Its the poor coaching on all phases- Rex has put all focus on the defense the last 4 years, yet it's still not elite, and hasn't been since 2009 (hence the downward trend).
Well, by your logic, Rex is the only one who doesn't get any blame except for being a young coach that's still learning. The guys above him are bad, the guys below him are bad, and you're saying he's the only one that isn't? As for the defense, it's only a weak argument when taken out of context. The organization has drafted nearly all defense for a decade, and still has old, slow linebackers. We've ignored offense completely and still don't have a completely dominant defense - another indictment of how poorly run the Jets are. Proof? That he's lost his team? He admitted it himself at the end of last season. For further proof this year, see training camp where they had fights every day and he kept commanding them to stop, and they kept right on doing it. See Bart Scott going to the media and starting a fight with the fans. See his offensive line coach throwing blame around everywhere. See his defensive coordinator who by many reports leaked the story about Rex being frustrated about the offense - where exactly do YOU see proof that he has NOT lost this team??? Yeah, it's the media and the fans that are at fault. But I'm the one who has an argument laden with fallacy. Right, because if the Jets didn't give the media a reason, the media would just make things up almost every single week. I respect your love of the coach and that you think he's doing a great job. But you are accusing me of the exact same thing that you are guilty of - from the opposite side. Bottom line, and you can go back and look at all my posts - I don't care about the record, none of what I say about Rex has anything at all to do with the Xs and Os, nor does it have anything to do with the wins or losses. It has everything to do with the fact I'm a successful businessowner and I know, with minimal fail, when someone is in over his head and in the wrong position. Rex commands very little respect other than "what a great guy he is", he doesn't hold ANYONE accountable, including himself, and he's TOO loyal to his players. Loyalty is a great thing in a family, in a friendship, and in life. But as a head coach in the NFL, loyalty only goes so far before it begins to negatively affect the team and he passed that point a long time ago. Rex as a human being is awesome and I'd be proud to have a guy like that as my friend - but he's got a long way to go before he can have my respect as the coach of my beloved football team.
