True, but remember, Arizona doesn't want just the 25. I'd move them the 17th pick to get Boldin and a replacement 5th rounder, which Arizona would likely be more willing to do.
while they want more than the #25, Baltimore doesnt appear to be going to give them more than #25. So personally thats the most i would offer for Boldin, its a take-it or leave-it offer imo. If they want a pick in the high value range, then the cards should swing it. they get an extra two out of it, and the Jets don't get fleeced, while at the same time, manage to hang on to that all important first round pick. With 31 the Jets might be looking at getting value for a Jarron Gilbert, or say a Donald Brown... both are two of my favorites in the draft, getting one of them plus walking away with Boldin would be theivery imo.
Get it done. Personally I'd rather have a so-so QB and an elite receiver than an elite QB and a so-so receiver.
Boldin is only 29. WR's on average have a much longer lifespan than RB's. They are usually in their prime until 33 or 34. The elite receivers generally play at a high level until their mid 30's at the very least and past that in many cases, 35-38. Look at TO, Cris Carter, Jerry Rice, Tim Brown all still amongst the best in the game after 35. Marvin Harrison was still elite at 34 during the '06 season. I'm not putting Boldin in their class yet but he's among the league's elite today and I don't see his production suddenly tailing off in the next 5 years barring unforeseen injury, etc. He's one of the most physically gifted and productive WR's in the league and would give us a multidimensional weapon on the outside. I hope we get him.
I wouldn't want to give up a 1st and a 3rd. If we can somehow find a way to negotiate a different price to pay it would be ideal. If Boldin were a couple years younger I'd be willing to go 1st and 3rd but how many years of his prime would we get considering his current mileage?
No. Look what Moss did with Oakland and look what he did with Brady. It's all about the QB. I think they should keep the pick. Boldin is gonna be 29.
The Raiders are a joke of a franchise and is where players go to die. They should never be used as a baseline for any argument about anything. Boldin got it done with QB's named Blake and McCown before Warner arrived.
Quan is my favorite player in the NFL and has been for years. He plays with an incredible degree of passion and physicality. I would love to see him here.
The Jets aren't getting Boldin. They can't afford him and they don't need him until they have a QB. They will move up to get Sanchez if he falls to 8.
What do you guys think of this trade? Jets get Boldin, #31 Cardinals get Thomas Jones, #17, and 3rd? Essentially, for the Cards, they're getting the #17 and a 3rd for Boldin, they would love, and fill their hole at RB with Jones in exchange for the 31. Jones isn't worth a first rounder, of course, but he did win the rushing title and since the Cards are getting much better value than they could with the Ravens for Boldin, they lose some value in the Jones trade. Jets could draft Beanie or Brown to replace Jones at 31, and get Gilbert or another DE in round 2. So it'd be like coming out of the first two rounds of the draft with Boldin, Wells/Brown, and Gilbert, thereby filling all their holes besides QB. Sounds good to me.
Really? Oh yeah cause the Packers and Patriots super bowl teams have had fantastic WR's. Antonio Freemannnn! I'll take an elite QB.
Why is everybody so high on Sanchez. When there are alot better QBs coming out next year. Why trade the farm of a prototype QB in Sanchez and Freeman. Why not see what we have this year. Get the weapons for the QBs we currently have and lets see what we can do. BR or KC @ QB TJ and Leon (drafting one wouldn't be that bad either at 17 like Moreno but we could still get a quality back in the 2nd round) Cotch and Stuckey, Clowney, and Brad Smith. We just need one more WR this can go next to Cotch. Which this draft has an abundant amount of WRs. Keller (This is where we are really thin that is why Pettigrew is looking like a good pick at 17. We need to sign Bubba Franks again since there is no depth at this position). I say worry about the QB next year and just get the fillers for the Offense this year.
Personally I prefer my trade back scenario (see above) than this one. Because i would rather keep Jones, I mean a rookie RB is very unlikely to come in and produce the way that TJ would. Besides I seriously doubt if we toss in Jones it has to be a third as well, it could easily be a 4 or a future 4. But I prefer this to giving our #1 straight up for Boldin. I also like picking at #31, because its the area that two of my favorite guys are going to be picked in, Donald Brown and Jarron Gilbert.
Y is everyone so against getting talent on this team? This happens every time there is a good free agent out there, I mean how many of you saying Boldin is too old and dont want him are going to draft him early in their fantasy league? I know its just a fantasy league, but I bet you will pick him and thats because he is a VERY good receiver and always produces. He would instantly improve our team, but nope. I remember having this same discussion when Plax became available. Yeah, he wasnt a huge part of the Giants success or anything.
A guy like Boldin will help make our untested QBs alot better. We'd have an excellent starting WR duo, excellent RBs, a very good OL and a questionable QB but w/ all that atlent around the QB it will make it alot easier for him to have success. Remember, in '07 Chad was 1-7 while KC was 3-5 as our starting QBs w/ the lack of talent we had. Last year Chad had a much better OL and running game and he won 11, KC deserves a shot w/ the talent we have and adding Boldin will give him a much better chance to succeed.
