And Winwood still has it. He was better than Tom Petty the other night. I guess he's just not a headliner anymore, has do play with a Clapton to be on the marquise. _
Clapton's work in Cream gets huge cred from me because for the time it was so cutting edge, innovative, using a sort of jazz styled song and improv setting in a hard/acid rock kind of sound. But Clapton would probably say some of his later work was of a higher crft, more consistent. I think the real point is he could simply not keep it up for all the infighting and the drugs and the greater difficulties they had touring on those days. Of a concert with both Clapton and WInwood in it, I am aware of only two dvds, one being the 2007 Winwood/Clapton concert at MSG, the other was the Blind Faith concert live at Hyde Park in 1969. The Hyde Park one was looser, shorter, and Clpaton chose to play pretty much ensemble style guitar work, but it is one of the best rock concert dvd's ever, imo. Winwood wsa pehnomenal in it. Check it out if you've never seen it.
Since you mentioned Rod, here's his interesting cover of the Stones' "Street Fighting Man". Very different from their version but just as energetic-
Even earlier Rod, the first time I ever heard his name. Steampacket is considered the first "supergroup": Long John Baldry (vocals), Rod Stewart (vocals), Brian Auger (organ & vocals), Julie Driscoll (vocals); also Vic Briggs (guitar),Ricky Brown (bass),Mick Waller (drums)-
Ouch, I'm sorry you have bad knee shit. Chronic pain would be horrible to endure.. Is it from big injuries (ACLs) or just wearing them down?
I have partial tears in ligaments on both knees, I only fully tore my PCL on my left knee and did have it repaired. At the time, the Drs didn't think the partials needed surgery. And thanks. But pain is a funny thing. You can tune it out after a while.
turned 40 2 months ago.... not much meniscus left in those things and that's not including the other stuff like tibia fractures and mCL injuries and seeing my old man is a harsh reminder that old age is gonna SUCK for me
We're in the same boat, apparently, although my old man is in a worse spot with pancreatic cancer. I'm hoping that I don't have that to look forward to, but even if I do, this life is sweet enough.
Ooof that's a tough road dude. Good luck. Clinic in Germany doing some incredible stuff if you are interested. _
I know it is rough working through an injury like your knee, just had a vertebra and a couple of discs removed, a few titanium plates and a cage put in my neck but took a job that will keep me moving instead of going back to my old desk job.
It's true..... I have F-ed up discs in my lowerback (and something with my hip) but nothing makes it hurt more than when I have to sit in front of the computer all day. When I have magazines on deadline, I feel crippled at the end of the week. I feel MUCH better when I'm helping my conttractor friends on job sites doing hard labor than I do sitting around. I still surf like a kid, and went through FireFighter school at 36 (then tore up my knee before county hiring tests ) The mornings after are alot tougher Anyway, back to "Classic Rock"... what makes it "Classic"? because the "Classic Rock" stations here (JAX) suck..... my argument is just because it's old, doesnt mean it's "Classic" Bad Company all day long SUCKS......... ZEPPELIN FTW!!!!

Was on a big Maiden kick for awhile..... "Why didnt I listen to these guys more when I was younger" oh yeah, do lower back / core excercises a few days a week. Also found out that using a "Swiss ball" as a computer chair helps tons..... until I rolled over a thumbtack and landed on my ass
