Two words....Wayne Hunter Sanchez career downfall began on the first offensive play from scrimmage in the 2011 season, when Demarcus Ware blindsided him. That happened numerous times during the 2011 season. Throw in an annilhilation by N'gata in the Ravens game when Mangold was out and that was the end of Sanchez.
This is something I thought was definitely a possibility going into this season. I always assumed the team was going to bring in a veteran QB. I also dont think they will hesitate to take a QB this year if there is one that the staff likes. I have no problem with that at all. I would assume that would mean Hackenberg or Petty are out. If I were a betting man, it would be Petty. Hackenberg, while I have no faith in him at all, hasnt gotten even a little bit of a chance to prove himself.
he's a known quantity. why keep aorund a guy who will never be more then a back-up when you can have 2 guys who could be potential starters (hack and a draft pick) and a veteran journeyman. at that point petty has nothing to offer
Have you ever seen the NFL film interview with Y.A. Tittle? I'd sign that guy in a heartbeat. Toughest old bird this side of Chuck Bednarik. What is he now, 92?
Sanchez was scared in that Ravens night game. Never seen him play scared until then, reckless obviously, but not scared. He was never very good but he was trash from that game on
OK--we all know Todd Bowles will never get us to the super bowl, much less the playoffs. Therefore, my hope is that the jets do NOT draft a QB this year. Start Hack from day 1 and see what he has. Don't bench him. If he sucks, like Browning Nagle in 1992, then get rid of him after this year. If Hack gets hurt, put in Petty. This is a lost year anyway. Why not see if either of these young QBs can play? Keep McNown on the bench as a mentor. If we suck this year (likely) fire Bowles, draft a new QB in 2018 and get a fresh start. If Hack plays well this year (unlikely), then perhaps we have a QB for the future.
