You're fucking kidding right? How many times does he break first contact and lower his head to hit someone later on once he is through the hole? He's a bruiser. Hell, before last season they were writing about how his style was so physical that he was going to get hurt. Now people think he's not physical because no holes are opened up for him. lol. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2010/07/rb-shonn-greene-doesnt-plan-on.html
You post a 2009 clip to make your point? I think everyone accepts that in '09 we all thought he was a franchise RB. Over the last season and a quarter? Not so much.
You said: You didn't say "He's unable to get past first contact in 2011". It isn't hard to figure out. If his first contact is with a LB or DB he's fine. If his first contact is getting gang tackled at the line of scrimmage, he's not breaking it. No running back ever does, so I don't see your point. What do you think, Greene is suddenly afraid of contact? Again, Greene and LT have similar YPC numbers this season, just like last season. They're both down about 1 yard. Either they both started sucking really bad, or the OLINE isn't doing its job.
Sign Peyton Hillis! Not that I'm serious, but he is the very definition of ground n' pound. (This will be its own thread soon, I bet) The Cleveland Plain-Dealer's Tony Grossi believes Peyton Hillis will request a trade ahead of the October 18 deadline. Grossi says contract talks between the Browns and Hillis are "not going well," and that a trade request is likely the "next step." It's hard to imagine the Browns cutting ties with one of their few offensive weapons, though it's become clear they have little interest in inking their feature back to a lucrative long-term extension. While Hillis and his third agent in four months desperately struggle to maintain leverage, the Browns have little motivation to act on a trade request even if Montario Hardesty looms as a potential replacement. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4965/peyton-hillis
Wanna see zone blocking? Look @ the BRONCOS with TD and around those years, That's zone blocking. Some of you guys seriously are saying this man doesn't break tackles? AYFKM? When did you Stop watching the JETS? Probably around 2005... Now, This year the O-Line isn't creating holes for ANYONE. So to start pointing a finger @ the Shonnmower is absolutely ridiculous. Zone blocking...lmao.
You're right, LT's 3 ypc will bring a lot more to the table than Greene's 3 ypc. I-T'-S T-H-E L-I-N-E
I dunno about this scheme business, but I know the Shonn Greene of old has just showed up to play some football. Like someone lit a fire under his ass. Which irks me to some degree because I started LT over Greene... lol
Yup. Greene will never be a premier back, but the OL still needs to gel in order for any of their backs to prosper, period.
86 yards on 21 attempts is good? People hated that TJ only got 4 YPC but at least he did it every week. This is with Mangold.
