I don't think that there are a huge number of pro-Clemens fans. Clemens is an unknown. Instead, there is a group that sees the limitations that CHad has in his game and that effect on the team and it's chances to win, and want to see if Clemens has what it takes to take the team to a new level. A fine distinction but an important one.
Please explain to me how Clemens will find the "new level" without some protection from the OL, or at least the hint of a running game. These are some of the things even the best NFL QB's have needed to take their team all the way. Even the mighty John Elway in the end could not get it done without a little help from his friends.
That's good. Kill your QB's confidence as well. How do you explain that to KC? Well, we'd like to start you, but we're worried you might get hurt. We're just trying to protect you from the big bad NFL. Now hop back up on the toilet so we can wipe your ass.
He won't. The line needs to up its game FAST. Stranger things have happened than an OL suddenly playing out of its mind after watching its QB go down. Didn't happen for this team in 05, but we can hope. As far as his supporting cast, he's got a damn good supporting cast at the skills positions to help out. If (and this is a big if) the line boosts its play even slightly, KC will get a chance to show what he can do. I'll go one step further and say that if Bender starts this week, the run game gets a slight boost. Jones obviously wasn't 100% last week, which is fine since we couldn't block for him anyway. He'll get better, and Bender's a better run blocker than Clarke.
I just read an artical that stated that during the game, the x-ray on Chads ankle came up negative (so not broken I guess). On Sunday evening the ankle was "a little swollen". And when Kellen was asked about Chad on Monday he stated that "Chad looked good" but he would not give out any other details.
I was thinking the same thing that it might have been better to start Tui this week, but you are right. If the guy is number 2 on the list it is his turn. You can't protect him. The one good thing about Clemens is he will likely be a bit more mobile than Penny and able to not get too beat up.
How do you explain it??? You tell him he isn't starting yet. How was it explained to Palmer or Manning??? You're our first round pick and we are protecting you from the big bad NFL??? They were told when they would play, period..
Yeah, but Manning and Palmer were #1 picks of bad teams. There was no way they could not be on the field by game 1 of season 2 without having the "hell of a bust" label all over them. Manning actually started game 1 of his rookie season and Palmer game 1 of his 2nd season. Kellen Clemens is a bit of a different story. He's got to get on the field sometime this year or the odds are Tannenbaum is in trouble, however he's not an investment of the top pick in the draft.
Eli manning. Kellen was not going to start this year if Chad was healthy unless we were out of it by the mid way point, that should be measure. Kellen will play, just not right now.
Eli Manning is an exception to the rule because he was just a terrible overall #1 pick and the team that acquired him actually paid more than that to get him. The Giants have reaped what they sowed with that deal and as we all know they have a new GM just a few years after making it. Never, ever, ever make a mistake on a franchise QB pick on the top 3 picks of the draft cuz it'll kill ya down the road, even if you are as well-respected as Ernie Accorsi was when he made it.
Often the swelling will mask or hide the fracture or partially obscure the break, therefore a good clinical diagnosis may not be immediate.... on the other hand, today is tuesday, and no word on the status or severity of his ankle lends me to believe it is a fracture and erico the great is not tipping his hand til he is ready........
