You got a feel bad Chad with all the injuries he's had, but you also gotta say it does mean he infact is injury prone. High ankle sprain and broken ankle both take a while to heal.
I don't think that there is such a think as being "injury prone," as opposed to a player just having a real streak of bad luck. Guys like Santana Moss and his brother Suckalot Moss, those with tight muscles that are prone to pulling etc, that's one thing, but when it comes to you in a pile, being rolled over, or some 300 lb guy drilling you shoulder-first into the turf, they are two entirely different things.
Broken is probably BETTER (sounds worse I know) than a High Ankle Sprain. Also, I don't think this makes him injury prone. He was beat on all day... and not the only QB who went down this week.
Seriously doubt it’s broken – if it was broken I would have expected him to be in a cast on crutches after the game as opposed to hobbling around. It’s not like they don’t get x-rays right there…they aren’t going to let the QB walk out on a broken ankle. Still – a sprain or a high sprain is bad news. That shit will hurt like hell for a few weeks.
Whether it's fractured or not..this week Mangini and Schottenheimer will be coaching up Clemens BIG TIME!!! This could injury could be the proverbial "blessing in disguise". It's a great way to find out whether Clemens is the future or not. Two things could happen... (1) Clemens could bomb, throwing Jets fans in a tizzy (as well as the Jets FO) and all pro-Clemens fans could shut up. (2) Clemens could flourish, spawning an all-out team-dividing QB controversy. I'm so looking forward to next week's game. Actually I'll be missing it. Headed to San Diego to see the Giants play the Padres.
There's definitely fragility in some people. We had a great basketball player on my highschool team who rolled his ankle like clockwork every game and eventually had to stop playing because of that. He just did not know how to play to protect that ankle. Chad has no clue at all how to protect himself as he goes to the ground. He throws his hand out in front of him (a definite no-no) to cushion the fall and he stays stretched out as he lands which is a sure fire way to get somebody to land on something if they're not looking really hard to avoid that. The case that Chad is not injury-prone is just non-existent. He's a big lanky guy and he's got bad mechanics. The wrist in 2003 was because he throws his hand down as he goes down. The shoulder in 2004 was because he really does not cover up well when he's taking a sack. The shoulder in 2005 was because of the shoulder in 2004 and also because he does not cover up well. That shoulder happened when he got nailed down on the 5 yard line by Jacksonville the week before he actually went out, I don't care what anybody says I saw that moment and the separation the next week on that frantic little scramble up the middle was already at least partly there. Chad was scrambling like he was (how often does Chad scramble up the middle?) because he knew one hit was going to do him with the partial separation. This year's injury? Chad scrambling away from pressure and with no clue how to go down and avoid the injury.
^ That’s actually a pretty good assessment of some of the “why’s” he is always getting hurt; also – I think the shoulder was also (at least in part) due to him throwing his hands down to brace himself. Some people are just really, really good at phucking themselves up…I’ve got a friend that pretty much blew out his ACL walking down the stairs.
That post makes no sense to me. They were not Chad's fault. I don't think he had much time on that play to "Scramble" away with 10 Patriots in his face. His is not Vince Young. And you don't choose "how to go down" when you are being attacked by multiple defenders. Chad has a good reaction time, they just got to him in a second.
Shouldn`t this be part of the rookie semminar a must attend for all those high priced QB`s." How to FALL into a million dollars" //////sub titled.......... staying healthy long enough to hit those incentive bonus`
That's one of the most logical posts I have ever seen you post... You're right Robby...We have to see what we have in Kellen now, and hopfully it's good.
Not to add fuel to the fire, but I had the same exact thing happen to me a few years back. My ankle rolled the same way, I hobbled off the field the same way, and tried to put weight on it but couldn't. I loaded up on drugs and went out the next day and could walk but couldnt run or do much anything else. I went to the doc and it was broken clean, 6 weeks in a cast, 2 in a "boot," and I dont know how many weeks of therapy after that. It took about a year total to get it back right, probably because I came back a little too fast. I said it during the game and I'll say it again, I'll be shocked if its not broken. He's a lucky man if it isnt. I'm praying that it isnt. Furthermore, he probably did even more damage when he went back out there. If the fans didnt boo Chad, I dont think Mangini would have let him return. That was totally a pride and respect thing.
If chad is out, I still wouldn't play Kellen next week. I wouldnt play him until week 4 when it's just the bills and Giants D's. Let Tuiasosopo get beat up by the Ravens and Dolphins.
even if its not fractured he wouldnt last long against BAL defense with a severe sprain. that play looked utterly disgusting. im surprised he came back, but wouldnt be surprised to hear its fractured or even broken. wish him the best luck though regardless who plays.
Well, I think 3 things: Your #1 option. With your #2, if Kellen flourishes, then there is no QB controversy. They make the change, its that simple. Younger and cheaper, they cut Chad before his huge roster bonus is due next year. The third being, if Kellen is just ok. Then the controversy begins, and life as a TGG poster becomes hell for a year or two, as every throw is scrutinized to death, no matter whose throwing.
Anyone who's fractured their ankle knows that you can't walk around on it. A high ankle sprain (I've had a few doozies in my day) can't be walked on for about the first 3-5 days. My guess is he has a moderate high ankle sprain and he'll be back in 2-3 weeks. If it's fractured, I'm shocked at how well he was moving around on it. I've never seen anything like that.
Im sitting here wondering if I give a shit less about keith olbermans take on Jet fans or your team report card.....its close....kinda tough......ahhh lets just say I could not possible care less about either one
