Revis does not bring a compensatory pick because he was traded.

Laron Landry signing with Colts has a good chance of bringing back a 3rd round compensatory pick. I'm not too confident Jets get another 3rd rounder from from: Slauson, Keller, DeVito, Bell.

Nice work put into this, but if this is the way it turned out, I pull the trigger on Austin in a heartbeat. If we did happen to trade down, like JTJ said, Eifert all day of Hayden. This offense needs weapons MUCH more than the defense needs a corner. We already have 2 first round corners, its time to let that be and focus on the offense, the side that truly needs it.

    Quality work though man.

    Jordan or Mingo?

Since the Jets are supposedly so high on Mingo, do you think even if
Jordan falls to #9 they would take him? I sure hope so, but you never know with this organization.

Mingo hasnt been contacted by the Jets since the combine I think (or his proday). So take that for what its worth. The Jets also brought in Jordan for a private workout so there's definitely interest there. Im pretty sure he hasnt been connected much with the Jets because he's expected to be long gone.

Honestly, if Jordan fell to the 9th, we need to pull the trigger. Take it for what its worth...

Yeah, looking into him, I quite like him as an option. Teddy is probably the only 1st round QB I'd consider still at our pick, and based on how the draft I threw up there goes, there isn't as much talent that falls due to only 1 QB taken prior.

    Interesting.

I like Matthews a LOT, but think taking him at #18 would be a HUGE reach. Just can't see it. If the draft falls this way, I could see the Jets taking Martin, Carr, Mosley, Pryor, Roby or maybe someone else over Matthews.

Based on what I've heard Gettelman say, the Panthers are more likely to take an OT than a WR in round 1. Even if they do go WR in the first, I don't think it will be Benjamin. He's very raw and is already 23 (and maybe 25) I think. I think they will take a more polished, more NFL-ready WR.

I would be very happy landing Matthews even at 18..
He's bigger, faster, and has outproduced most of the other prospects being considered on this board.
And he's done it in the best conference, on a terrible team, and with O coordinators and QB's changing around him. no built in excuses for this prospect.
combine that with the maturity, work ethic and football intelligence he has, and i think he is one of the cleanest prospects in entire draft.

There is almost no buzz connecting him to teams, and that silence is almost more revealing to me than the 'smoke' articles.
you keep quiet on something you hope lasts to your pick. I think he ends up going in the first, although i'm really hoping the Jets can trade up in the 2nd and still get him.

Really, it's amazing that Matthews isn't mocked in the first round by now. I haven't seen a legitimate argument for him not to be.

Well, other than that boring combine crap.

My nightmare is that the Jets trade up for combine warrior Overrated Beckham Jr. and the Pats stay put at the end of the round and draft Matthews.

That's fair enough. Trying to predict the Jets pick is a freaking lottery it seems haha. Lately they seem to go for guys that no one expects. Muhammed Wilkerson caught a number of people by surprise it seems, but for the better. Quinton Coples, with Bruce Irvin reportedly targetted as well, wasn't an expected pick by most. Then Sheldon Richardson, who wasn't even considered the top player at his position by most. I figured I'd go with a guy who seems to have gone under the radar, yet has shown himself to be a tremendous talent.

Panthers were a tough one. They're in an awkward position where a lot of players they might target will already be off the board. I had the Seahawks taking the next OL player, but that's because they have the ridiculous depth overall where they can afford to take a more raw talented tackle and get him up to speed. They seem to be a team that would probably look to trade up if they really wanted to fill a need with a quality plug and play tackle or WR that's worthy of a 1st round pick. Perhaps they jump on Dee Ford, and pull a Jets by adding talent to their strength.

Since trades are hard to predict, I decided to do two scenarios and see where they go. Labelling them 1a, 1b etc. Mainly because of how things go nuts if the 1st pick is traded.

    1. a) Houston Texans - DE Jadaveon Clowney
No trade presents itself. They stick to their guns, and so do the Falcons (I'm struggling to see another trading partner in the top 10). They stick with the best player there. If they want Bortles enough, they can trade back into the 1st round for him should he fall sufficiently. Don't forget they also have Case Keenum, who showed some sparks last season. I almost want to take Khalil Mack here, since you could argue he's a better fit for their defensive scheme.

    1. b) Atlanta Falcons (from HOU) - DE Jadaveon Clowney
Blockbuster trade. Falcons and Texans work out an amenable deal, and the Falcons grab a cornerstone for their defense and the Texans breathe a sigh of relief in some ways.

    2. a & b) St. Louis Rams (from WAS) - OT Greg Robinson
No surprises here. Perhaps Jake Matthews instead, if they favour him more.

    3. a & b) Jacksonville Jaguars - QB Teddy Bridgewater
The Jags need a franchise QB in a bad way. They still have their pick of the crop, and even though they fail so bad that they even failed to tank for Teddy, it doesn't come back to bite them.

    4. a & b) Cleveland Browns - WR Sammy Watkins
Josh Gordon and Sammy Watkins paired up? Throw in Jordan Cameron, and Brian Hoyer is a happy QB coming back from injury (until they decide to go for another QB).

    5. a & b) Tennessee Titans (from OAK) - OLB Khalil Mack
The Titans charge up the boards to jump ahead of the 6 pick where Mack's slide would likely end. The Raiders happily take the draft picks figuring that a quality OT or other player will fall to them. It's a weird draft where more often I've been looking at projecting 3-4 OLBs to DE rather than vice versa.

    6. a) Atlanta Falcons - OT Jake Matthews
With Mack off the board, the Falcons settle on one of the top tackle prospects in the draft. Matt Ryan is happy.

    6. b) Houstan Texans (from ATL) - QB Blake Bortles
Houston still get their QB that they seem to covet, and extra draft picks for the future. I think people are much more happy taking the QB they want here than at 1, as the tough decisions have been made for them.

    7. a) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - OT Taylor Lewan
The Bucs grab some offensive line help. Lewan is the player here for them.

    7. b) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - OT Jake Matthews
Like above, except they get a better prospect.

    8. a & b) Minnesota Vikings - DT Aaron Donald
Greg Jennings hasn't really given them the lift they wanted at the position, and Mike Evans could be a good pickup here, which I did in my no-trades mock. But After reading a bit more into things, it looks like they'd be keen on Aaron Donald if he was still here. Mike Zimmer sort of player. It fills a need as well.

    9. a & b) San Francisco 49ers (from BUF) - Mike Evans
The Bills are left holding the bucket here, but in comes San Fran with all their picks for a big trade down. I can see them wanting to trade out if the above scenario plays out, and the 49ers might be able to offer something that works. They get a solid WR to help out Kaepernick.

    10. a & b) Detroit Lions - CB Justin Gilbert
The Lions get the top CB prospect out there, though they might consider Dennard instead. Edges out Ebron and more offensive line help. Taylor Lewan is still there in one of the scenarios, but again the top CB prospect trumps the third rated OT for them.

    11. a) Oakland Raiders (from TEN) - OLB Anthony Barr
With the top three OT prospects gone, the Raiders take Barr. A really good prospect who can develop behind Tuck and Woodley. Not a bad option at all.

    11. b) Oakland Raiders (from TEN) - OT Taylor Lewan
The Raiders accumulated draft picks and still get a solid OT for the future.

    12. a & b) New York Giants - TE Eric Ebron
Give Eli help with a seams player, and hope he thrives. They'll sink or swim on how Eli does.

    13. a & b) St. Louis Rams - WR Marqise Lee
The Rams get a solid WR to pair with Austin and give Sam Bradford the best opportunity possible to succeed. It's make or break for him.

    14. a & b) Chicago Bears - CB Darqueze Dennard
The Bears are ecstatic that Dennard is there for them to take.

    15. a & b) Miami Dolphins (from PIT) - OT Zack Martin
The Dolphins trade up to grab the OT they want, giving Tannehill some much needed protection. The Steelers are happy to trade down with the holes they need to fill not having great options here.

    16. a & b) Dallas Cowboys - S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
They need secondary help in a bad way, and Clinton-Dix is a really good player who could help mask the problems they've had at CB.

    17. a & b) Baltimore Ravens - WR Brandin Cooks
They got Steve Smith, but they need someone to pair with Torrey Smith in the future. Cooks can make an immediatey impact in the slot as well, making the Ravens a dangerous offense rather than the 1 man team in Torrey Smith that they were for a lot of last season.

    18. a & b) New York Jets - WR Jordan Matthews
Sticking to this pick. If I had more time to finish this mock I'd probably also weigh up Barr from scenario B. So many good players left that trading down sounds really juicy.

LOL couldn't agree more regarding the Jets. Who knows what they'll do?

Yes, Panthers are also in a tough spot because they lost so many players in FA, especially at WR. The top 4-5 WRs could be off the board by the time they pick and there's a similar story with the OTs as the top 3-4 OTs could all be gone. They also have needs at CB and S. It's gonna be interesting!!!
