This is nothing like the Curtis Martin signing, other than it's a good signing for the Jets. Martin had not worn out his welcome in NE nor was he considered to be slowing down. He wanted to go play for Parcells and so they put a poison pill in the deal (a one year opt out after making most of the money the first year) so the Pats could not match. It killed the Pats to see him walk, which is as far away from a worn out welcome as you can get!
Most likely Vick. 1) Geno has to learn how to read defences 2) Hit wide open receivers 3) Improve footwork 4) Careless running with the football 5) improve on his 1 TD and 14 int's I sure HOPE this kid proves me WRONG but it seems like a lot to ask in a short amount of time. Not that I like Vick, I just don''t see Geno being a franchise QB.
He signed because he knew Falco was cheering him on. Lol. Check out extra mil in incentives that you were arguing with me about.
I never argued with you once about spending $1 million over. I clearly said, twice, that spending "a little over" is not a big deal. It's the absurd overspending I was referring to. Let me show you since you lack the ability to comprehend my comments. Here are the two comments I made to you in the other thread: And let me also note that I said exactly what the market was, between $3-4 million, which is EXACTLY what Chris Johnson received, $4 million a year
i dont really hate the signing. i am sure it wasnt a huge deal so if i am correct and the money is good, which i am sure it is i view this as a smart and good signing. HOWEVER, fanboys relax. the guy averaged 3.9 ypc last year and has only averaged around 70 ypg over the past 3 years. he is explosive but has also not exploded as often as he had 5 years ago. he still may be a great back, but lets look at the guy we are signing, not the guy who rushed for 2k 5 years ago. and lets be honest with ourselves about what the expectations and hopes should be.
Like I have been saying since day one Mr. Idzik had to do something more than just the 4 mil. Congrats that he did and offer extra mil in incentives. Since first week in April I thought Idzik would make up for perceived mis signings by getting this deal. I am happy you predicted this Falco.
Ivory and Johnson...LOVE IT...."THE DREADED DUO"....by far the coolest hair RB tandem in the league! CANT WAIT!
Hightower isn't good in coverage, Collins showed flashes but is still unproven in extended playing time, and Mayo, according to Rotoworld before his season ending injury, "Mayo graded out spectacularly poorly in Pro Football Focus' ratings." That was a month and a half into the season. No reason to think Wilfork will return to form after his achilles tear..dude is aging. Patriots will need to address D-line in the draft and have worked out Jordan Tripp, who would look nice on our squad. The Patriots also have only one safety right now in McCourty. They are weak up he middle and it wouldn't surprise me if we go offensive line for our first pick to allow our backs to be productive.
As the rebuild continues under Idzik at a very thoughtful and steady pace, I am hoping we see some attention given to the offensive line. It is my hope that after the draft and before TC, that we find one or two solid vets in that third tier of FA's to increase the competition along the line and add more depth. Winters stepping up would be huge along with some of the younger projects coming into there own. If we can once again become the dominate running team in a passing league, it would go a long way in allowing Geno to really develop.
