    Jonathan Dwyer

Dwyer led the Steelers in rushing last year. For some reason, they dropped him before week 1. According to reports, the front office felt he didn't take the game seriously but the coaching staff was pissed. Looking at the Steelers rushing yesterday, they could have used him.

He's the exact type of running back Rex loves and he could come really cheap and maybe he's learned his lesson that talent isn't enough. He's probably someone we could look at for 3 weeks until Goodson's suspension is over.

OLine can't open lanes, what do you want him to do? AP couldn't run with this line.

Matter fact, yesterday he couldn't run behind his own line. He averaged less than 1 yard per carry after his 78 yard run.

Tampa has the #1 run defense...They have a good defense.

Let this one slide, lets see how it goes against Pats

    THIS!

Isn't it amazing? Only one game into the season and these 'panic' topics show up already?

The Bucs have a good run defense but overall Ivory was horrible yesterday. When he ran they were waiting for him and he was unable to find a hole or shake tackles. He's supposed to be a power back. He also dropped I think two passes. Last season the OL also started off slow in terms of run blocking. Basically it was 3 yards or under for running backs yesterday. A real problem esp for a rookie Qb in his first game. This Thursday they come up against the best NT in the NFL in Woolfork. This is something that has to be improved. Give Tony Sparano some credit after a real poor start last season the run blocking and production by running backs was much improved the second half of the season.

our backs suck and our oline cant run block. its no suprise we wont run it well. key is to be stubborn with it and stick with it and stay in games and not get too pass happy

Idzik did try to improve the running back position and the Jets put money into it, too. Ivory is a much better player than what he showed yesterday but he needs some help from the linemen. Also probably there were other factors like motion and the formations. The Bucs stuffed them all day long. Expect the same on Thursday. If this team is going to be competitive they have to fix this.

its not like we were any good running the ball last year either(3.8 yards per carry, 28th in the NFL). so its not like its one week. and we didint exactly improve on last year, moreso just moving around similar parts.

our run game is flat out bad. we dont block it well, and we dont have above avg backs

The Steelers also lost their all pro center with a torn ACL. I think he was more valuable than Dwyer. There's a reason nobody has picked the guy up. Let's see how Powell & Ivory look against a team that wasn't the #1 rushing D in the league and then we'll see if it's really that dire. For all the complaining people do about our RBs, Doug Martin looked just as bad despite being a #1 overall pick in one of my fantasy leagues and having all the hype from his monster season last year.

I think I'll wait until we're at least two games in before I start fretting over our "running game woes". Yeesh.

Agree. He kind of reminds me of that RB we got from the Chiefs (Blaylock??) when Bradway was still GM.
