Sadly, he isn't. Has anyone seen him play this preseason? He's basically been a backup FB. He's been getting mowed down, hence his being cut. He cannot block anymore.

    Cooley vs. Cumberland.

Neither can block, but Cooley has a much better resume and hands.

    Would love the addition.

Not a good fit for our offense, Sparano prefers blocking TEs, plus his salary is too high to make a trade for, would not want to shell out a pick. Even if he is cut thensign him would be too expensive considering he is a poor fit for our offense. Pass!

Cooley has been playing FB in the preseason since the Skins declared Davis their TE. To his credit, Cooley said he would take any role with the team. He's been slow, and gimpy, and struggling bigtime with blocking. It's not a good match with the Jets.

Remember the role Josh Baker was going to play? Cooley would play that role and do it better than Baker would have, albeit at probably double the price. But since Baker is no longer an option for us, Cooley would be a great add.

Apparently we have heard drastically different reports about the shape he came to camp and his blocking ability...

There is however a big difference in being in the backfield in a FB position with no help having to block and on the edge where most of the time you just need to jam someone off the line.

That's very true and a good point. In the preseason, and taking into account the past few seasons, he has been injured, and as a result, poor in blocking. I've seen him this preseason, but as you said, in a FB role. Unfortunately, he seemed to show a noticeable limp due to a knee injury. I just think the Jets can do better.

Tebow will not be happy if Cooley's a Jet and he starts texting pictures of his junk around.

Cooley has been cut so I'm hoping the Jets have noticed.

Yeah seriously. This would be a great move for us. Tanny and Rex need to tell woody to gas up the g6 and get moving

For those asking, don't expect free agent TE Chris Cooley to become a Jet. #nyj

Not wanting to pay him much and NOT wanting to waste a draft pick makes our decision to burn a 2nd rounder on Doug 'one year wonder' Jolly all that more insane. Can you imagine Tanny sending the 'Skins a #2 for this kid? Well that's exactly what we did not too long ago.
