He's a pretty versatile player. The injuries are concerning. If the Jets or Pats don't sign him... and assuming the other two loser AFCE teams don't either. I'd think he's a no-brainer for the Rams and Schotty. But who knows?
and he can fill in and provide support at FB plus fill a hole at TE...this is a match made in heaven. It will be nothing short of furious if Tanny doesn't bring this guy in.
Abyz, I don't really see that happening with them having Gronk and Hernandez, but you never know. So I'm with you ... He'd actually be the low-money versatile complement that would help the Pats save roster spots. Forget the number of TE slots they are using to figure out the middle of the field. They have a blocking TE that can catch and a receiving TE than can almost block, Cooley would... um... complete them? I mean that in only the gayest of ways, though. I hate the way I can see the Pats getting the best of the rest of the division, but I can see Cooley as a perfect complement. The only reason they spent all of this time looking for the perfect two TEs in the draft in the first place is because the position demands less salary, I don't care how much Gronk and Hernandez are making. That position dominating the field means they can spend more money elsewhere. It's an efficient alternative. God I fucking hate Belichick.
We already have 2 TE's that can't block, we need a 3rd? Granted Cooley is far more accomplished than Cumberland - but he's also coming off injury and probably on the downside of his career.
i think this is a must have signing...he is known for his versatility and is more than an average blocker...guy can come out of the backfield and i dont think i need to mention the injuries we are facing at the position...there is no reason we cant make this happen even if its a one year deal.
yea idk why people think he cant block, just because he is know as a recieving TE doesnt automatically make him a bad blocker. Thats not the case.
From what Ive read/heard, Cooley isnt really a good blocker... Ive never watched him though, but if he cant block then signing him would be eh.
for all those questioning Cooley's blocking ability... a lot of what i'm reading and seeing is that his blocking was considered of value especially this year.
