Jets | Mangini comments about Pennington Thu, 23 Feb 2006 19:20:59 -0800 Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini said that QB Chad Pennington (shoulder), who has been asked to take a salary cut, is working out in Florida to rehab his injured throwing shoulder. He was asked if there was an update on Pennington and he replied: "Chad's situation is really unchanged," Mangini said at the NFL Combine. "He's a New York Jet, he's working hard in his rehab and I'm happy to have him."
Chad,Jay,Vinny,Cutler........who cares as long as we win? In my 40 years of being a Jetsman,my beloved Jets need a QB more than ever, now. The decision is unfortunately, out of our hands, but we DO have Coach Mang now,and he's coached in Australia(where I live, and played free safety and corner),which is where he got his start in coaching, and he's NO fool.............. Bradway is gone from the GM's job, which is the BEST move...........God,I hated that guy............ Kitna,Collins, etc won't do the job...........remember when we paid 35 million for Neil O'donnell? The man who threw away a Steelers SB win?....waste of f@#$%^ng time, and money that move was,we need to draft well, and now that Bradway's gone,we just might do that.......... I had great hopes for last year, but Chad and Jay getting hurt just killed us...great to the Vinster suit up again for old times sake, but don't be surprised if we sign him again. You think I'm joking?............nope............ And why let Herm go?.......2 yrs left on the ledger, and we let him go...........in another coupla years,Herm might have learned to tell the time, and manage the clock better..............he MIGHT..............but we'll never know........If Herm takes KC to the SB next year,I'm gonna fly back to New York, and personally strangle Woody and Terry............Yes,you pair of weak bastards................I'd love to lay a vicious tackle on both of the bastards for being weak prix...........as far as the draft pix went,Terry couldn't pick his nose, and Woody needs to bloodywell realise that if all of us Jetsmen and women donated $5.00(or maybe a little more.....lol....) to a 'Buy Back the Jets' fund,he'd be f@#$%d for a job...........Hey,let's do it...........I want an owner who bleeds GREEN,not money..........You might think I'm a little pissed of with the front office, and I am........anyway,rave over.......... And whatz this 'undrafted FA bullshit,in my box?I'm a 15 yr veteran player and a current coach.....lol.......
Is the question posted assuming we are wanting to win next year or just get by? I don't know of any FA's that are going to do much for us along the lines of winning. We are in a bad situation at QB. We will sign one of these guys but not as an answer but as a back up. I don't see us getting out of the draft w/o a QB and not just one we plan to serve as our back up but our starter.
The ideal situation would be for Chad to take his pay cut and draft a QB as the franchise's future. So then Chad can keep the starting job until he gets injured at some point in the midseason and the new guy can take over permanently.
I'd rather the Jets sign Culpepper....Yeah he's injured but so what? It's not like the Jets are primed for another Playoff-run....THEY ARE RE-BUILDING!!! They can afford to wait for Daunte to get healthy and when he is, Jets will have one heck of a QB on their Hands. also, I'd still like to see Vinny return as the QB Coach; Brian Schottenheimer should only be concentrating on being the OC....
It kinda makes sense...and would certainly explain why no formal announcement for VT's retirement has occurred.....
