Obviously Maine has decided to minimize the walks by throwing meatballs right down the middle of the plate.
i think that about closes the book on this game. this is what happens when your starters only last 5 innings, you have to bring trash like schoenweis into the game and let him pitch to dangerous righties.
I will give Maine one little pass on that, which is that he obviously was pitching better at the end. Easley getting that hit might have been the worst thing that happened to the Mets in this game, since Maine might have stayed in the game with two outs and no one on, and perhaps pitched at least a couple of more innings.
I doubt the Mets win 100 games this year. I don't think they come close to the win total from last season either. Its not that this year's Mets team is worse, but I think the rest of the league has gotten better.
