I'll be honest, I couldn't read past this. I don't think that word means what you think it means. EDIT: Of course, I agree the play calling was absurd. Did anyone notice when Danny Woodhead came into the game and was set out WIDE? His lone play and rather representative of the overall offensive gameplan. Cutesy little unexpected wrinkles with zero substance and little chance of success.
Bro, while not being pressured, he would look to the checkdown before his WRs routes could even develop. He was looking to check down WAY too early... WAY too often. I'm not sure how you could argue otherwise. The Ravens secondary was destroyed by injuries. You had WRs open down the field as pointed out multiple times by Jaws... and Sanchez was refusing to look their way. Hate to say it... but he looked an awful lot like Trent Edwards...
Check downs are not a bad thing at all. What Sanchez did last night was not that. He often never even looked downfield. He locked in on his "checkdowns" at the snap. He's now petrified of throwing an INT. He doesn't have happy feet, he's got Mardi Gra goin on down there.
i agree with everything the op said ... as ugly as it was, what we saw last night from sanchez was growth still, i would have liked to see more aggression on the last few drives. but i am not mad at his decisions because we were only down a FG with 3 to's and plenty of time
I'm not saying Sanchez = Edwards, or that Sanchez's ultimate upside is that of Edwards. I'm saying last night, he played like Edwards... which is 100% accurate. No wishful thinking about it... Thinking that what Sanchez did last night was good, and that he wasnt checking down too early and was just following the game plan... that is wishful thinking.
