If he's a unifying voice in the locker room, that's an asset far more important than what he'd do on the field. I'm just saying, if you have to choose between a career backup that has no experience as a starter and is just another guy, or a career backup/sometimes starter who is looked at as a leader by his peers, its a no brainer.
No doubting the locker room voice thing, that's always a solid plus in my eyes. However, I just think the mentoring aspect is kind of overblown. Let's call a spade a spade though. In all likelihood, neither of these guys makes us any better. Kind of a retarded disagreement we're having . Gotta love the offseason!
I'm not sure how much better Chase Daniel is than Petty or Hackenberg. Not much at all actually. McCown of course. I'll throw Fitzpatrick in there too. And Kaepernick. I guess I am not much of a Chase Daniel fan. Haha.
At this point I almost hopeful that David Garrard's knee is healed enough to be offered another contract...
Daniel would be absolutely useless. If mac is going for the whole Vet mentoring thing what does Chase bring to the table? How to ride the bench in style. Been in the league for like 7 years and has less starting experience then petty lol.
I'm hoping that after Macc shows everyone that he's done his "due diligence", he just decides to grab a QB in the draft and let all three fight it out. Because, really, what does a washed up, or no accomplishment discard do for them? If you want a "solid locker room presence" hire a counselor.
Well....we got our 3rd camp arm. Now it's up to Hackenberg to show us what Macc saw in him. Hack should be starting by mid-season after the bye.
