You can make an argument for the torch being passed to a handful of guys. Or that Brady had broken ribs and no Welker and is keeping the torch, or that Peyton Manning actually has the torch and is keeping it. A lot of ways one could go.
Agreed. Rivers is good and certainly belongs in the discussion of the top NFL QB's. I just brought up Rodgers because he is every bit as good as Rivers and he's one and done in the playoffs.
Just in general with alot of the older QBs on the decline or mulling retirement. IE Warner. But there is a new generation there with Rivers, Cutler, Eli, Rodgers, hopefully Sanchez, and even Henne. These are the new generation.
I agree but what i kinda meant was there is a whole new generation out there and they are coming up fast. the last generation was like Brady, Ben (I just say this because he matured quick and had help from his team), Brees, Hasselbeck, Delhomme, and manning and yes even Pennington. Not that they are passing the torch more like they aren't just the only QBs to talk about now. Just like how Farve and Warner. I just know know where to McNabb and Vick (lol)
Ftr I would love to bury Brady, but that's probably premature. NE does seem to be leaking like a sieve in many places, though.
I can agree with that. I'd say Rivers and Brees are both in that upper echelon and you guys had them both at one point, that's pretty amazing to think about, most teams struggle to get one. There's always a new hotshot coming along, it plays itself out on the field though, that's where Brady, Manning, etc got the status they have. Look at Jay Cutler, people have hyped him up as the next Favre for four years now and he's on his second team, still never been to a playoff game.
Brees/Rivers was the football god making up for Ryan Leaf. And in the right system, Cutler would be very successful IMO. Oh..add in some maturity as well.
His weight is down, he's picked up a step in his coverage speed, and he's picked his game up overall. I'm not that down on the guy in this case. San Diego delenda est.
Lowery held his own against Cincy twice, and is a 2nd year player. Wait till next year, the breakout year. I said the same thing with Stuckey and he was on his way until he got traded. They won't trade Lowery, unless he gets us a #1 whatever from the Browns.
Clearly you dont. Jammer has been playing great for several years now. Not just this year. He was a penalty machine his first few years but hardly draws one now and is solid in coverage. He just dont get a lot of INT's
Sheppard is ok. Nothing to be worried about and if he is on Floyd....i like our chances there a lot. I like our chances period but again for me it weil be about whather we turn the ball over or not. If not, it wil be a tough game to win for the Jets imo.
