It is always easier to assign blame than to accept responsibility. Watching the news programs today, which I usually try to avoid, and the vast majority when asked about the rioting blamed a few different things such as the time of day the announcement was made and the small number of national guard that were deployed. The one thing I did not hear blamed was the actual rioters. Funny thing about those blaming the small number of national guard, just a few days ago they were complaining about the Governor deploying them.
One punch could have knocked him out giving the guy who was trying to take his gun every opportunity to do so. The rest of your post is both stupid and ignorant which is likely no surprise to anyone.
Because people don't want justice, they want a white cop to go down. Apparently none of these "protesters" understand science, the 1st shot hit Brown in the tip of his thumb and traveled down to his wrist which backs up Wilson's claim that Brown tried to grab his gun. I keep hearing hands up don't shoot yet all those people chanting it ignore the fact that if Brown had just done that instead of slamming the door into Wilson and then punching him in the car he would still be alive today. Exactly, it's not like Brown was 5'4 145 lbs, he is 6'4 and close to 300lbs. Any punch could have broken his nose and blurred his vision or hit him in the temple and killed him.
When you watch this does it surprise you that Brown had no regard for authority and felt he could do as he pleased? And how about George Stephanopolous on TV pressing Wilson if he could have done anything different yet not one member of the media (probably out of fear go being labeled a racist) is stopping to ask the question if Brown had done anything different would he still be walking the streets of Ferguson today?
The protesters/rioters claim they want justice but what they really want is to ignore any facts that implicate Brown and justify the actions of Wilson and want Wilson to be strung up regardless of the facts. They have already made up their minds that Brown is the innocent victim and any and all evidence to the contrary just goes in one ear and out the other. I don't really see why the grand jury would have the same bias, it's not like it was made up of Wilson's family members or other cops or something, so what motive would they have to free a cop for killing an innocent man? Because they share a skin colour with him? Well a lot of Brown supporter's share a skin colour with him so it's a wash at best, plus I'm white and I don't go around saying they should hand out pardons to every rapist and murder who has a similar pigmentation as I do, if someone is guilty they are guilty and they should suffer the consequences for their actions. I'm not saying Wilson didn't over react or that Brown's death was justified but I don't see how it's cause for riot when a jury makes a decision just because it doesn't fit into the pre-conceived notions of a group of people who a) are emotionally invested in the situation, b) already have a deep resentment towards authority and/or c) just want an excuse to loot and burn things.
I'm wondering what Mr. Brown would have done with that gun if he had grabbed it. I suppose he would have sold it to help pay for that first semester of college tuition. Honestly, I do believe that white cops feel more threatened around young black men than any other group, and I have no doubt it effects the way they do their job. You know who else feels more threatened? Black cops ... And Asian cops ... And Hispanic cops ... And Female cops, etc ... The question the black community needs to ask itself is WHY is that the case? Is it really about skin color and institutionalized racism, or is it about something else? It's about time the people and the leaders in the black community spent more energy addressing the cause of this fear, and less energy complaining about the effects of it. Until that happens, things won't change because unless we produce Robocop, the police who patrol these neighborhoods will always be human beings with human emotions.
They have to stop this nonsense now. It will take years to rebuild this town. The only option that is feasible and not violent to stop this is to: 1.Stop Welfare checks from being mailed out 2.Close soup kitchens 3.Don't deliver food baskets out for Thanksgiving Arrests mean nothing to these rioters.
I don't know the culture or problems that Ferguson face on a daily basis, but as an outsider looking in I wonder... - If a black cop shoots a white lad, would there be riots and outcry pertaining to the race card being played? - Is this just yet another case of 'reverse racism'? Like most protests you get the anarchic element attending and just wanting to cause trouble, I'm sure Ferguson is no different here. But also I read about how angry some black youth still feel and its like reading an account from the Luther King era. Surely its still not like that, is it?
If the authorities did what you suggest, where do you think people will get money for food, cash machine?
I guess a black person who's been around since the 60's would be a better choice to answer that last question than me. There's no doubt there's still plenty of anger in the black community against the political and economic systems in this country. I think some of that anger is valid, but also think much of it is completely misplaced. Looking in as a white person who ALWAYS seems to get the blame for the problems in the black community I'll say this --- The answer to your first question is a definite NO. There's no money to be made in that scenario. You'd never hear a peep out of anyone in the mainstream media about a shooting like that. There's an entire industry in this county based on race hustlers like Al Sharpton feeding the tensions between the races, and feeding the narrative that the deck is stacked against black success. Inner city morgues all over the country are filling with the bodies of young black men every week, and he'd have you believe it's because the cops are executing them ... But you can bet your life, that hypocrite would much rather see his daughters walk through those urban areas at night with plenty of police on patrol rather than no police. Many of these urban areas are cesspools of violence and drugs and if you happen to be a cop policing these places and seeing these things every freakin' day, there's no way to be human and not be affected in some way. Black men may have a legit gripe about the way they're treated by the cops and that discussion can take place but it has nothing to do with this specific incident. Micheal Brown was a thug. His behavior demonstrates that. It will never happen, but I'd love to see that sealed juvenile record of his. I'd bet my life he has a criminal history as long as my arm. You don't live a clean life for 18 years and then suddenly wake up one day and say --- "I think I'll spend the day robbing a convenience store and attacking a cop". Criminal behavior is something that ramps up over time. The bottom line is, Brown was killed because of his own actions that day. This wasn't an innocent kid who was harassed and gunned down by some cowboy cop. He was killed in the process of committing a violent felony against a police officer. If black people can't comprehend that, I don't know how things will ever get better. To use THIS guy to symbolize their protest is an embarrassment. I have no doubt there are cases of innocent black men being harassed and harmed by the police, but that is certainly not what happened here. If they want their voices to be heard and taken seriously by people in the white community, people in the black community need to pick a different case and a different Martyr.
I'd love to see what my juvenile criminal record would look like if I wasn't white when I was an adolescent doing all kinds of stupid shit.
See Police here in inner cities get called racist for their 'stop and search' policy. I forget the exact ratio / % but its something like 1 in 4 arrests are made on people from the Black community, so the Police tend to target those ethnic groups more-so. I can see the logic and its a reach to say that the Police (here) are endemically racist because of it .
Trayvon Martin 2.0 if that really is the murdered victim in that picture. Show him robbing a store, show him with a gun in his hand in an old picture to say that he magically deserved to die as a unarmed human being.
