Would a fan of another team besides the Jets and Fish chime in with their honest opinion of Chad Pennington? Apparently FTP cannot hear what Jets fans are saying.

Maybe he will be able to comprehend Pennington's shortcomings from a third party.

Chad Pennington = Trent Edwards + 7 years.......

    How's that?

Both are criticized for arm strength, check downs, and durability. Chad, however, has taken his teams to the playoffs, Trent is still trying to shower the stink of a JP Losman QB controversy off of him.

Durability is the biggest concern with Chad. He does well and gets you to the post-season, but is 2-4 in the playoffs with both of those wins in the Wild Card round. He has also never made it to the playoffs in consecutive seasons. 2002, 2004, 2006 with the JETS and 2008 with Miami. Too inconsistent to hang your hat on.

What DOLPHINS fans aren't realizing is that with Chad, he had 4 INT's in 5 playoff games with the JETS. He had 4 INT's in 1 playoff game last year alone with Miami. Sounds like diminishing skills to me, but we'll see. He is going to have to buck trends in order for Miami to make the playoffs, in a year where Miami isn't playing a last place schedule, but a first place one. In a year where Brady is back and the JETS seem to be improving on a good D. I'll leave any talk of the BILLS out of this because I know it hurts his feelings when I bring them up. DJ & Co. are still there so my outlook is somewhat guarded.

I haven't read the entire thread it's too fuckin long. Here are my thoughts on Chad Pennington:

Pros: Great leader, smart QB, very accurate, if given sufficient protection does not turn it over, great play-action fake, playoff experience.

Cons: Weak arm, cannot handle the blitz, not very mobile, dependant on running game, injury prone, does not win big games

Yes, feelthepain, I realize week 17 2008 season was considered a big game. I'd say the NYJ pissed that one away more than CP won it for you guys. I know we will agree to disagree.

Actually, Trent's career record is 12-11. Before Chad went to Miami, his record with the Jets was 32-29.

Chad is a good qb and an excellent person. I wish him well except when he plays the jets.

Just wondering how many of Trents wins came against teams with winning records, If I had a guess off the top of my head it would be maybe 1.

The "does not win big games" opinion, how many teams did Chad play on that were good enough to win big games? My guess would be none. Either the coaching or lack of enough talent to win in the playoffs or both. Afterall how many HC have the Jets had since 2000 and didn't the Jets go out just last year and really make a commitment to their Oline and backfield because the previous seasons they had one of the worst Olines and rushing attacks in the league? But for some reason the Jets lack of success in big games was Chad Penninton? Seems to me Jet fans are trying as hard as they can to place all that was wrong with the Jets on one player while the rest of that team from 2000 to 2007 gets a free pass.

So now you can't take honest assesments from Bills fans. Anyone else out there who is not a Jets fan want to offer their opinion?

feelthepain should be banned for being the ultimate internet pussy! Funny how he was nowhere to be found on this board during the embarrasing stretch by the Dolphins yet he suddenly reappears after a fluke winning season.

I can't wait till mid season for feelthepain to run like the little bitch he is.

I thought so. I give you facts, you are guessing.

I'm pointing out that I can understand how JETS fans can be frustrated with Chad. If you want to nit pick and ignore the facts, then go ahead. We could break down and scrutinize everything about these two all day, but the bottom line is both are accurate passers, both are smart QB's, both have durability issues. If you ask BILLS fans, the only reason most are giving Trent a chance is because his resume isn't long enough. If he has the same career path as Chad, then you'll see the witch hunt on Trent. Try to cover the obvious if you want, but I'm guessing others see what I'm saying. If it hurts, pour yourself another beer.

No need to get defensive, I just don't see Chad getting you a Super Bowl win. If he does, then you'll rest in the fact you have amazing insight. If he doesn't, then I suggest you try to open your mind and see what others see.
