The JETS arent even good at being bad.... last time they get the #1 overall, the best prospect was a tall possesion receiver......

We're not getting the #1, our schedule is too soft the 2nd half of the season. Its not like we've lost to bad teams. We'll be anywhere from 7-15 and draft a defensive lineman or corner like we do every year. It's a shame we felt the need to win those last 2 games last year.

No actually some get lucky at it and some dont.

Were the Colts successful because the just happened to be very bad in 1997 and 2011?

Were the Pats successful because they won the lottery with Brady as a 6th rounder?

You dont know what you're talking about. Yet you make it sound simple.

Watch us not get a top 3 player or Mariota...We call Pettine, and he trades Johnny Football to the Jets

    The circus continues.

It's easy to be mature on the field when you're outrageously physically talented, playing alongside an outrageously talented team in the ACC.

He's a goon, and giving him millions of dollars is the best way I can think of to make sure he starts fucking around even more.

They need to build the supporting foundation on offense before anything then ease a signal caller, whether its a rookie or 2nd year or veteran signal caller. Have the pieces in place first before you hand the keys to the QB. That's why I want a potential No.1 WR in Cooper, so he can get his rookie feet wet in route running and finetuning his game to the pro level in 2015 as we still build under most likely our 1st year HC.

Russell Wilson got eased in when he got drafted, exceeded expectations and from there, greatness happened for Seattle.

I really hate that I'm posting in this thread in week 5, but it's hard not to look forward to the draft.

Jax definitely won't be drafting a QB. Oakland probably will if Carr doesn't show progress throughout the season, but if he does, they may well take Amari Cooper and give Carr another year. If Austin Davis continues to play well, STL will most likely take a QB later in the draft. The only team that could finish worse than us that I defintely see drafting a QB is Tennessee.

There's a pretty good chance we'll be in position to take one of the top two QB's that are available.

Oh right its just dumb luck, thanks for reminding me. I take it back then, let's just put a blindfold on and throw darts at the draft board. been working great so far.

This isn't a 1-15 team. Most likely we are headed for 6-10 or something like that.

On the field Winston is very mature and what he's shown is not easy. He runs a pro offense, goes through his progressions, makes adjustments at the line etc. He can be a "goon" off the field but between the lines he's proven to be a leader and good teammate. You are not compartmentalizing.

Yeah cause thats what I said. Right.

Lets get back to the original point of you quoting my post. I said there isnt a QB worth taking..especially in the 1st round.

Who would you take? Mariotta? 1st-5th overall? Would you trade up for him if we arent picking in the top 10? Or would you pick someone else?

You say pick a QB that isnt a bust. But Mariotta has a more than likely chance of being a bust.

It really is possible to find a franchise QB later than the first round, just remember that. As it's been stated by a few people, Russell Wilson, Andy Dalton, and Colin Kaepernick are a few examples. This is all assuming Geno continues to poop himself all season.

I'm aware I'm not compartmentalizing, and I don't want to. I have concerns that he will have significant off the field problems, which may be fine now but eventually they will spread to on the field play whether that is through suspensions or distractions.

You guys just don't get it. Until the jets starting drafting offensive linemen (Cowboys) no matter who plays QB they won't succeed.

No, you said if Geno was coming out in this next draft that he'd be the best QB available and I posted a gif of someone rolling their eyes.

I never said anything about Mariota in this thread.

They have been drafting offensive linemen, just not in the first round. I agree that an influx of O-Line talent is important, but the Cowboys O-Line won't turn Geno Smith into Tony Romo.

The defensive talent is there, so I'm pretty sure offense is the way we go in the first round. Could be OL, WR, or perhaps even QB.

Why Mariota? Seriously. Haven't we seen enough of these system QB's fail in the nfl?
