Actually yeah it is. But that's not his fault, or Geno's. Talk to Rex, Idzik, and Woody for putting those two together! Lol. Got it?
It was probably Rex Ryan who started the shit about Gailey coming to the Jets. Rex just wants 2 easy victories a year.
Sounds like Gailey doesn't plan on implementing an explosive offense here. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2015/01/what_does_chan_gailey_jets_potential_offensive_coo.html
Nowhere did I remotely say that. Narrative, yeah okay. Try looking forward a little, in case we're stuck with Geno next year. Instead of worrying about who's at fault from that crash & burn and who should and shouldn't get blamed. It's history bro. They all sucked equally..including Rex.
If they hire Kitchens as OC, I have no faith in this regime to win. I like the Bowles hire. Maccagnan as questionable hire. Fine. Gene Smith in the front office scares me a lot. It takes one guy to have a bad idea like "Draft a punter over Mariota" for it to go into the head of the GM as a reality. I am fine with it though. Nothing is perfect. But KITCHENS as OC??!!?!?!?! This guy has done nothing impressive in his coaching career. In his pro career he was Cowboys TE coach for ONE year. Then cardinals TE coach. When is the last time you heard of a top TE on the cardinals. Who is the cardinals top TE? ROB HOUSLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????? Then he becomes the QB coach and has a dreadful year. I get Carson Palmer went down...but they weren't even that good before that. He's a guy who SETTLED for RYAN LINDLEY as his QB.....IN THE PLAYOFFS. I don't want a guy who settles for less than mediocre QBs when QB is this team's problem. 24th in offense overall. The Jets were BETTER than the cardinals this year in offense. If they hire Kitchens...be VERY scared. AWEFUL.
and who's talking up THAT narrative? far as I can tell the only thing thats been said is that this might be better for geno and thats it.
I don't remember that O being bad at all. its aggressive and vertical as hell but i'd have to give it another look. and disagree with your assessment of how he handled the QB situation. the top 2 QB's on the depth chart went down. the hell was he supposed to do? between a bum off the street or perhaps a rookie with no experience it was kind of a pick a poison moment. he settled because he literally HAD to.
This guy Kitchens has hardly any experience running the entire offense. In his professional coaching career he's been a TE coach and a QB coach. In neither positions has he produced an elite player. The ONE year he was the TE coach in Dallas, Jason Witten had one of his worst years only scoring a single touchdown. Since becoming TE coach of the cardinals, there has been no top TEs produced. Carson Palmer, a veteran QB, had a mediocre year in 2013. I don't care that he went down.....it doesn't give him an excuse. He did a terrible job and one of the reasons the cards lost was because of QB play.
Not at all. To me, it sounds like he is already studying the Jets' roster, evaluating the players he has, and thinking about possible upgrades at some positions; he talked about the infusion of talent he will get in the offseason. Sounds to me like it's a done deal, Gailey has already agreed to come on board, all that's left to be done is ironing out the contract details. Reminiscent of all the time we had to wait for Maccagnan to finally sign on the dotted line. Just like Mac was ready to fly to Seattle with the Jets before he signed officially, it sounds like Gailey is already working with the Jets. ... interesting article, thanks for posting that.
The following quotes doesn't sound like we will be airing it out: I feel like that we'll be able to take the guys that we have, and any new infusion that we get, and hopefully be able to turn it into a winning offense. There's a difference between a productive offense and a winning offense. And what we want to be is a winning offense." Gailey ran a spread offense in his last stop, as the Bills' head coach from 2010-12, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will do so with the Jets. Gailey said he hasn't spoken with new Jets head coach Todd Bowles about what type of scheme the Jets might use. "The thing that we've talked about is that I think he realizes I'll do what's best for the personnel that we have, and then how we have to play according to the defense we have," Gailey said. "There's a lot of things that you have to do to win games. It's not just putting up points and throwing the ball and getting statistics. It's not about statistics. It's about winning the game. You've got to think about everything when you're running an offense." The Jets' defense has been much better than its offense in recent years. A coaching change alone isn't going to immediately make the Jets' offense better, especially considering their shaky quarterback situation. Gailey seems to understand that the Jets might need to be a run-focused, field position-based offense that leans on the defense at times, and doesn't take a lot of unneeded risks by throwing the ball a ton.
Who cares how much we air it out or not? His quote is right on the money. It's about winning games....not just about scoring points.
I don't care; I just want to win. However, there is this assumption out there that Gailey will bring over the spread he ran in BUF, which in turns might be good for Geno or, if we're lucky, Mariota since that's what they had success with in college. The comments does make me wonder, if Gailey was running a "winning" offense in BUF?
How is Quinn not available? He's not available to take a job immediately, that's about it. He's going to take a head coaching job and it's pretty obvious that he's been set for the Falcon for a while, although he leaked a number of times that he was going for the Jets job because... Well, let's face it, the only reason he would leak that is to drive the contract up with Atlanta. He's taking a job with a somewhat reliable passer in a shit division. Pit two and two together already, he was never available for the Jets, hell even Rex Ryan had more balls than this guy.
I too was talking myself into Chan, but would love to see Bowles go after Trestman too! (Great minds think alike)
