The Jets are the 14th most valuable sports franchise in the world, I hope Woody isn't balking at paying a good coordinator a million bucks.
Aaron Kromer was technically the OC in Chicago, although Trestman may have been dialing up the plays. I think it's a little different when you also have to wear the head coaching hat. Some guys, like Norv and Wade Phillips (and Rex), don't make great head coaches but thrive as coordinators. Last year Trestman made Cutler and journeyman Josh McCown look like absolute studs, and the Bears offense was unstoppable. Brandon Marshall seemed distracted and was banged up for most of the year. Their pass D was also atrocious. Trestman is a bone fide QB guru, something the Jets desperately need. This year, he even made Jimmy Clausen resemble a starting-caliber NFL QB.
I love how a guy who's been out of coaching 2 years is pulling this. I've seen him connected to 0 other places. He doesn't want to come here call Trestman or Gase.
I live in Chicago; that's Trestman's offense. Mind you, I actually like Trestman as an OC just like I like MM. Just pointing out how the grass is always greener else where until it becomes ours.
Yeah I see your point. Especially when it comes to the Jets. I am on board with Gailey. It just surprises me that an interview with Trestman, who has made his reputation as a QB whisperer, has not been arranged, much less a simple phone call.

If you're paying a head coach 4 mil (and that's for a first time hc) then 1 mil for an experienced OC isn't totally out of the ball park. Isn't Will Muschamp getting that to be DC of Auburn after getting fired at Florida.
Maybe we'll hire Doug Marrone after all.... As an OC he'd fit right in with Sporano and Schotty as bad Jet Oc's. Just kidding his ego is too large for anything less than a legendary HC, where did all his fanboys go anyway?
I wasn't necessarily saying Woody shouldn't pay Gailey that kind of money or that I want them to or anything - - It's not my money. I just highly doubt Woody would pony that kind of dough for a guy like Gailey who he shouldn't have to pay that much too. Gailey is overpricing himself- if he's asking for that kind of money anyway.
I gotta disagree. Trestman is a known QB guru. As QBs go, so goes their offense. We would be lucky to get Trestman under any circumstances.
Maybe we shouldn't have announced that Gailey was our man before he actually was.. I thought it was a done deal. Now, about the presser announcing Bowles and Mac as our new leadership.. When does this happen??

to be fair the jets never announced it, it was just assumed to be so. Mac and Bowles will have their presser Wednesday.
